Kindhearted, sweet, compassionate, silly, and dedicated, our Katie is the whole package! Over the last 4 years, Katie has grown in knowledge, confidence, and in our hearts as an amazing technician and a great friend. She is calm, resilient, capable, and genuine. She works hard and carries a natural peace around wherever she goes. Katie dances like no one is watching, strives to do her best every day, and engages with respect and kindness in each interaction with our learners, families, and team. She loves to spend time with her friends and family, How the Grinch Stole Christmas is her favorite holiday movie, and she enjoys an old-fashioned peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream. When asked what motivates her at Lights On ABA she replied, “the moments of success.” She referred to the eyes of our learners brightening with joy and wonder when they discover each step of communicating with PECs and sounds that move into words and then into phrases or sentences. The joy of finding a way to communicate and connect with the world around them, the world of possibility that opens, and the positive changes in their lives and the lives of everyone that supports the learners are unmatchable and indescribable to be a part of. Katie chose a career in ABA as a curious undergraduate who desired a change from her path in nursing school. Katie says whether fate, chance, or meant to be, a month after changing course to ABA, her child was diagnosed with nonverbal autism. Katie says she is grateful and happy working in a supportive role that someone else is lucky enough to fulfill for her child at the same time. Katie, your outlook on life is an inspiration to everyone around you. We are blessed to also be included in your meant to be, and we look forward to many more years shared with you. Happy 4th Workversary, Katie!
