At the October 6 Common Council meeting, Mayor Elizabeth Fagan issued a proclamation for Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad Month. Thank you to SVFAS members for your continued dedicated service and the vital role you play in supporting the health and safety of our community!

Since its founding on July 28, 1962, SVFAS has operated as an independent nonprofit organization providing emergency medical response and support. Staffed entirely by volunteers, the squad responds to emergencies at all hours, every day of the year. In 2025, members answered more than 2,400 calls for assistance, including emergency 9-1-1 responses, mutual aid to surrounding communities, and coverage at community events.

SVFAS depends 100 percent on donations and volunteers. Visit summitems.org for information on how to donate or get involved.
