Welcome to better hearing! Did you know that approximately 30 million Americans have some degree of hearing loss, ranging from mild to severe? Approximately 31% of people over the age of 65 have hearing loss and 40 to 50% of people 75 and older have hearing loss. Hearing is a physical and mental process. Both need to work in harmony for hearing success. Keeping a positive attitude while you seek help and learning all you can about your hearing issues will make your journey an easier one. We would consider it a privilege to assist you on your journey.

Hearing Aids and Brain Waves

Although it may sound like science-fiction, researchers have had success using brainwaves and artificial intelligence to essentially determine what voice a listener is focused on and amplify that sound. This is a huge development because, while undamaged human ears perform this activity naturally, people dealing with hearing loss have long had difficulty singling out specific voices in a space full of sounds.
While traditional hearing aids can improve the quality of life for a patient in many ways, they are unable to perform this auditory decoding that the brain can do with input from the inner ear structures. https://www.hearingunlimitedsumner.com/blog/hearing-aids-and-brain-waves/

We want to make you aware that we have made the difficult decision to suspend all appointments scheduled on March 23 through March 27.

These are extraordinary times, and the safety and health of our families, friends, colleagues and patients is of highest priority. We are doing our part to suspend operations to support those that are on the forefront of this outbreak.

Our plan is to resume regular business operating hours for all patients on Monday, March 30, 2020. If you have an appointment during this period, an office manager will contact you to reschedule your appointment to a later date.

If you experience any difficulty hearing or are needing urgent service, please call our office and we will assist you with your care.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Your health is extremely important to us and we look forward to the opportunity to care for you in the near future.

Over the past few weeks, we have learned about the developing spread of the COVID-19 Virus commonly known as the coronavirus. Our staff has always kept and continue to keep our clinics clean and safe for all of our patients and staff. We wipe down all surfaces, tools, and equipment between patients and sanitize the office regularly. The safety of our staff and patients is our number one concern. Needless to say, these efforts are redoubled at this time.

In addition, we are in contact with all local and national authorities to stay compliant and informed of local needs and follow all guidelines. These authorities include the Centers for Disease Control, the World Health Organization, as well as local governments. In addition to providing the cleanest clinic possible, we encourage everyone to take a few simple steps to better avoid the spread of this virus, including:

• Wash your hands regularly with soap and warm water.
• Avoid unnecessary contact with others.
• Avoid touching your face, eyes and mouth.
• Cleaning all common surfaces including your phone/tablet regularly.

In addition, we encourage everyone to handle their own hearing aids and avoid others touching them as much as possible. Please reach out to us prior to using chemicals to wipe down your hearing aids. Some chemicals can actually damage your devices. Our offices are here to continue to provide the concierge level of care that you have come to expect from us; we can give your hearing aids a deep cleaning for you.

We are proud to serve you and the entire community with better hearing and look forward to continuing the work of helping to connect you to those you love. There has never been a more important time to be able to hear and never a better time to connect to those around you.
