💚 World Mental Health Day 💚

Today is a reminder to check in on the people you love. Sometimes a simple “How are you doing?” or “I’m here for you” can mean more than we realize. ❤️

Mental health matters for everyone—including individuals with special needs and disabilities. 🫶

Not everyone communicates their feelings in the same way. Some may express stress, anxiety, sadness, frustration, or loneliness through changes in behavior, communication, routines, or body language.

Take a moment to:
💚 Ask how someone is feeling
💚 Listen without judgment
💚 Be patient and understanding
💚 Watch for changes in behavior or mood
💚 Offer support, companionship, and reassurance
💚 Remember that caregivers and DSPs need support, too!

Don't assume someone is okay just because they can't tell you they're not. Take the time to check in, listen, and let the people in your life know they are valued.

Protecting the People We Support Starts With Knowing What to Report

What is Incident Reporting, and why is it important for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs)?

Incident Reporting is the process of documenting and reporting significant events, injuries, safety concerns, or other incidents involving an individual receiving services.

For DSPs working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, knowing what to report, when to report it, and how to document it accurately is an essential part of providing safe, responsible, and quality support. 💙

🛡️ WHY IS INCIDENT REPORTING IMPORTANT?

Proper incident reporting helps:

✅ Protect the health and safety of individuals
✅ Ensure concerns are communicated promptly
✅ Create accurate documentation of what happened
✅ Help agencies identify patterns and prevent future incidents
✅ Support accountability and quality of care
✅ Protect the rights, dignity, and well-being of the people we serve

This World Sight Day, and help spread the word about the importance of eye health! 💙

World Sight Day, led by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), shines a spotlight on the importance of eye care and the need for eye care to be accessible, available, and affordable for everyone.

💙 HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT WORLD SIGHT DAY?

👁️ Prioritize your eye health — schedule appropriate eye care and encourage your loved ones to do the same.

📣 Spread awareness — share World Sight Day information and use to help others learn about the importance of vision .org

🤝 Get involved — individuals and organizations can participate by hosting activities such as vision screenings or awareness events. IAPB also provides campaign materials to help you get involved.
