Born with a rare tracheoesophageal fistula affecting just 1 in 3,500 newborns, Cataleya faced extraordinary odds from day one.

Thanks to James Davis, M.D., and the multidisciplinary teams at Pediatrix® Surgical Associates and Pediatrix® Neonatology of Texas, she underwent a novel procedure that helped shorten her NICU stay from the typical 11–12 months to just four and a half months.

The surgery was the first of its kind at Presbyterian Plano Hospital and one of only a handful performed in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, offering meaningful support to Cataleya’s military family when they needed it most.

Today, Cataleya is celebrating her first birthday and thriving. Read her inspiring story on today’s blog ➡️ https://hubs.li/Q04w3zhC0.

Baby sleep does not always follow a predictable path. Just when it seems like your child is finally sleeping well, nights and naps can suddenly become challenging again.

This disruption can even occur well into toddlerhood – often around the 18‑month mark. While this phase is normal and temporary, it can be exhausting and discouraging for parents and caregivers.

Dr. Christopher Klunk, neonatologist at Pediatrix® Neonatology of Texas, recently spoke with to explain what the 18‑month sleep regression is, what families can expect and practical strategies to help navigate this stage with confidence ➡️ https://hubs.li/Q04sNL5d0.
