Nearly 50% of U.S. adults have high blood pressure (hypertension). Many do not know they have high blood pressure.​

One of the most important numbers for your health is your blood pressure reading.​

Are you stressing over something? Eating too many salty foods? Not working out? Your blood pressure reading can help reveal what’s going on with your health.​

Your blood pressure reading consists of 2 numbers. The first number is your systolic pressure—that’s the force of blood flow when it's pumped out of your heart. The second number is your diastolic pressure, which is measured between heartbeats when your heart is filling with blood.​

A normal blood pressure reading is a healthy systolic pressure of less than 120 mmHg and a healthy diastolic pressure of less than 80 mmHg. Any numbers higher than those are cause for concern.
