JAFCO Children's Ability Center is comprehensive center serving children ages birth through 22 with any developmental disability.

The Children’s Ability Center is a beautifully designed, warm and inviting place for your entire family. The Children’s Lodge includes an art studio, fun and fitness gym, computer wiz lab, pet therapy environment, general store, daily living skills environment, music and drama studio for the children and a second story parent café where parents can relax while their children are receiving therapy

or having fun with their friends. For overnight stays, children will enjoy their own private bedroom and bathroom for up to two weeks per year. Your child will begin an individualized program that focuses on their many strengths and abilities. Working together to develop their cognitive, verbal, fine and gross motor and social skills, we hope to also enhance their performance and independence at home, in school and in the community. Parents and family members are offered the information, training and support to better understand and manage their child’s diagnosis . We provide family support which includes counseling, support groups for the entire family, education and training, child enrichment such as social skills, life skills and homework club, respite for a few hours up to 2 weeks annually and therapy services in the near future.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us on Monday at the JAFCO Children's Ability Center for the Special Needs Advisory Coalition (SNAC) Community Partnerships Networking Event! ❤️

It was an incredible morning connecting local providers, educators, passionate parents, and advocates dedicated to uplifting our special needs community. From exploring fantastic resource tables and hearing insightful panel discussions to gathering generous self-care donations for local caregivers, the energy in the room was truly inspiring.

Registration is now open for the 15th Annual In My Shoes Luncheon, benefiting JAFCO's Children's Ability Center — and this year, we're adding something new!

On Sunday, June 29, the world changed for the family of four-year-old Kendelle following a near-fatal drowning accident. After being resuscitated, Kendelle has remained in the pediatric intensive care unit, where he continues to fight for his life — and his family remains by his side, advocating for his recovery every step of the way.

Kendelle is a bright, smiley, energetic autistic boy who has been receiving support through the JAFCO Children's Ability Center alongside his loving and hardworking mother, Danielle. Danielle connected with JAFCO's Connections Team to build a stronger support system, access services that support Kendelle's growth and development, and find guidance through the many challenges and joys of parenting a child with a developmental disability.

Over time, Kendelle and Danielle have become a treasured part of the JAFCO family. They attend weekly caregiver support groups, join our Mind & Body Therapy group each summer, and take part in Parent Evening Out events. Kendelle's cheerful spirit and bright smile have touched the hearts of our staff and community, and Danielle has always met that support with gratitude and love.

Now, their family needs us. Beyond the emotional weight of this unimaginable situation, Danielle and her family are facing the financial realities of extended hospitalization, medical care, travel, lost wages, and the many unexpected costs that come with a life-changing event like this one.
