Former coworkers, friends and family members gathered Tuesday to honor two of our recently retired, longtime Hendrick Health employees who combined their unique talents to create a beautiful, comforting environment at Hendrick Hospice Care Center.

As director of Hendrick Hospice Care, Karen Tucek had an unwavering commitment to compassionate, high-quality hospice care. Duane Martin, former director of Architecture and Engineering Services, mirrored that vision through thoughtful design and attention to detail within the inpatient hospice facility that opened in 2016.

As a result of their vision and leadership, hospice patients and families continue to be supported by staff with dignity and grace in welcoming surroundings.

Today, we were honored to participate in Taylor County Commissioners' Court Proclamation Presentation recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer survivor Natalie Jimenez shared her story and the importance of self-exams and regular mammograms for early detection. The ceremony closed with breast cancer survivors placing pink wreaths on the courthouse doors as a reminder for women to schedule their mammograms.

For women who cannot afford a mammogram, assistance is available through The Hope Fund by Hendrick Health. Call 325-670-4673 for more information.
