The Birthstone Center for Appalachian Perinatal Resilience, is looking to add a few more like minded people to our team!

We are looking for volunteers who want to support not only The Birthstone Center, but all the families of Western North Carolina. Please fill out the volunteer form if you:
• Have a background in business/finance, healthcare, fundraising, nonprofit work, or building community relationships
• Are passionate about Birthstone's mission and have a desire to further our goals
• Have a skill or passion that you would love to use to help your community!

We'll be meeting at our Sylva location (494 W Main St) to relax, recharge, and weather this beautiful season of parenthood together. 🌧️✨

While your little ducklings splash, play, and explore, you'll have time to swap stories, make new friendships, and connect with our caring doulas and lactation specialists, who are always ready with guidance, encouragement, and support. 🫶🦆

At The Birthstone Center for Appalachian Perinatal Resilience, trust is earned moment by moment. We live here, and we walk alongside mountain families through some of the most overwhelming and tender transitions of their lives.

Our care meets families wherever they are:
Clinical lactation support and feeding guidance
Full-spectrum birth and postpartum doula care
Perinatal mental health counseling and therapy
Pelvic floor and pediatric physical therapy
Emergency donor milk distribution and clinical supplies
Direct relief, hiking into storm-damaged hollers after Hurricane Helene to deliver essential care and supplies to isolated parents and newborns

Showing up at the bedside and on front porches is only where our promise begins. We are taking that frontline trust straight to decision-makers to advocate for lasting systemic change across Western North Carolina.

Birthstone is proud to support childcare centers in becoming more breastfeeding-friendly! 🤱💛

We recently provided a practical breastfeeding education class for childcare professionals at Macon Program for Progress, covering the benefits of breastfeeding for mothers and babies, along with simple ways providers can better support breastfeeding families in their care.

This advocacy work with our community partners is an important part of what we do—helping create communities where quality breastfeeding support is accessible, supported, and normalized.

Birthstone offers customized breastfeeding education for childcare centers, employers, and organizations. Classes can be tailored to your setting and the families you serve.
