It’s been an honor of a lifetime to serve families in our community! With community support we’ve been able to accomplish a lot in advancing maternal health goals but still have a long way to go to achieve birth and reproductive justice and Central New York.

Join us this Saturday for a special community run/walk in support of Black Maternal Health Week 💜💙

Black maternal health remains a critical issue, with Black women continuing to face disproportionately high maternal mortality rates in the U.S. This event is about community, awareness, and support.

This will be a 2-mile community walk/run and everyone is welcome. Bring your family, bring the kids, bring the stroller, and come be part of something meaningful. Water and fruit will be provided after the run.

Let’s show up for community, conversation, and awareness.

SIGN THE PETITION: bit.ly/UFHealthJustice! Two mothers named Cherise Doyley and Brianna Bennett were ambushed by doctors, attorneys, and a judge who held a virtual hearing to force them to have a court-ordered C-section against their will. The Florida hospitals that did this need to be held accountable.

Cherise and Brianna had the right to decide what happened to their bodies. But the hospitals did not care. They went to court — while they were in labor — to take that decision away from them. Both are Black women. This is not a coincidence. This is a pattern.

As we begin 2026, we are grounding this year’s work in the values that continue to shape and sustain Black maternal health advocacy, justice, joy, and collective care.

The 2026 Black Maternal Health Week ( ) will take place April 11–17, 2026, creating space for community connection, healing, and action in support of Black Mamas, birthing people, families, and communities.

We have exciting updates coming soon about this year’s week, and we look forward to sharing what’s ahead.

The impact that our AABC community members in their work never ceases to blow us away.
President of the NY State Chapter of AABC (NYSBCA) and founder of The Birthing Place, Myla Flores, had her Womb Bus featured in CBS News for its impact on families in the Bronx. 🚌🤰

The "Womb Bus" is a mobile wellness clinic that brings the services of the Birthing Place Foundation to under-represented communities in the Bronx, especially BIPOC families who experience significant systemic barriers to happy, healthy birth experiences. When the system is failing our families, the birth center community rises to the challenge with innovation and passion.

"I feel fortunate enough to kind of break that generational cycle of traumatic births," said one visitor of the Womb Bus.
