Did you know that using a water filter can help remove lead from your drinking water?
Tips for Using Your Filter
✅ Use a certified filter. Look for a filter that says "NSF Standard 53" or "certified to remove lead."
🔄 Replace your filter on time. An old filter stops working. Check the directions to know when to change it.
❄️ Only use cold water. Do not run hot water through your filter.
📖 Read the directions. Every filter is different. Follow the steps that come with yours.

Lead Dust Can Land on Things in Your Home!
Old lead paint can turn into dust. This dust mixes with regular house dust. It lands on flat surfaces like:
• Windowsills
• Floors
• Tables
Lead dust may be on your child’s hands or toys and can then get into their mouth.
How to Clean Safely with Wet Cleaning Methods
🧹 Wipe flat surfaces often. Use a wet paper towel, or a wet wipe. Fill a bucket with cleaning solution or use a mop with disposable cleaning pads.
🗑️ Throw the wipe away after cleaning. Do not reuse it.
🪟 Pay attention to windowsills. Lead dust collects there the most.

💧 Water Fact Wednesday 💧

Did you know that older homes may have lead service lines bringing water into the home or have lead-containing fixtures in indoor plumbing?

Standing water may have higher concentrations of lead and other contaminants from indoor pipes or plumbing fixtures. Protect your family by running the cold water for 30-60 seconds in the morning before using it for drinking or cooking! This will bring fresh, cold water into your home and flush out standing water in your household plumbing.
