Did you know? Boiling water does not remove or reduce lead!

When water boils, some of the water turns to steam, but the lead stays behind. This can increase the amount of lead in the remaining water.

What can you do to make sure your water is lead-free?
· Use cold water for drinking, cooking, and making baby formula.
· Run your tap for 30-60 seconds if water has been sitting unused.
· Use a water filter certified to remove lead.

Lead Recall Alert- The Lior Brand of Cinnamon Ground Seasoning has been recalled due to it having the potential of having high lead levels, posing a possible health risk. Consumers should not consume this product and are advised to keep it away from their children. The affected product (UPC 794711005484, lot code GAP11304) was sold at retail stores, grocery stores, delis, and supermarkets in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, and Illinois between November 18, 2025, and September 7, 2026. The product should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase for a refund. Gail Importing Corp can be contacted with questions at: (516) 496-7400.

If your child has been in contact with this product, consider having them tested for an elevated blood lead level. Children are particularly vulnerable to lead poisoning, which can cause permanent damage to the nervous system. September is Baby Safety Awareness Month!

Help keep your baby safe by getting them tested for lead at ages one and two.

Most children with lead poisoning do not look or feel sick. A blood lead test is the only way to know if your child has been exposed.

Babies and young children often put their hands, toys, and other objects that may be contaminated with lead into their mouths. Lead paint dust mixes with household dust and settles on horizontal surfaces, which can get into their bodies from hand-to-mouth behaviors.

LEAD RECALL ALERT – The Lontcs Busy Board has been recalled due to the toy’s zipper having high lead levels, posing a possible health risk. Consumers who purchased this product are advised to keep the board away from their children. SQT can be contacted to receive a full refund. These boards were sold on Amazon.com from May 2024 through July 2026 for $31.00. Recall number: 26-753.

This recall involves the Lontcs Busy Board toys. The toys consist of a wood board and metal handle with multiple attached components, including a black plastic buckle with cream colored straps, a brown zipper, a metal latch, a caster wheel, a white doorbell, a lock with keys, a music box with crank, a zig zag duck puzzle, an abacus with three rows of white, red and tan beads, and a white fidget spinner.

Consumers will be asked to write “RECALLED” in permanent marker on the board and submit a photo of the destroyed product to [email protected] to receive a refund. The recalled board can then be disposed of in accordance with local waste requirements.

New York State Tightens Lead Limits for Certain Spices

New York State is making spices safer by setting a stricter (lower) limit on how much lead is allowed in certain spices. Beginning January 1, 2028, the maximum allowable amount of lead will be lowered to 600 ppb for the following spices:

The new lead limit will be 600 ppb for these spices:

• Curry
• Dill seed
• Dried basil leaves
• Dried non-bell peppers
• Nutmeg
• Sesame seed
• Turmeric

About 85% of these spices already meet this new, stricter limit. If any spice exceeds the allowable lead level, New York State can remove it from store shelves or request a recall.

Children are particularly vulnerable to lead poisoning, which can cause permanent harm to the nervous system. Lead exposure can lead to learning difficulties, developmental delays, and other long-term health issues. If you think your child may have been exposed to lead, talk to their healthcare provider about getting a blood lead test.
