Our Story

As one of only two public cord blood banks in the State of New York, Upstate Cord Blood Bank in Syracuse is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit public banking center. Our state-of-the-art facility is a silver LEED green building located on the beautiful Upstate Medical University’s Community Campus. We provide testing, processing, cryopreservation, and storage of donated cord blood that can be used for lifesaving medical treatments and research.

Umbilical cord blood is rich in stem cells and has been shown to have a beneficial value in fighting against blood cancers such as leukemia or lymphoma, and as many as 80 other life-threatening diseases. Donated cord blood can give hope to those suffering from cancer and other diseases. Your baby has a superpower and it is up to you to unleash it.

Our cord blood center makes donation easy. In fact, your provider supplies you with all our information during your prenatal visits and talks to you about cord blood donation. This takes the stress off you to remember to ask your doctor about Cord Blood Donation. After all, we understand there are higher priorities and lots to discuss during your pregnancy!

We are currently accepting donations from mothers delivering at the following hospitals in Syracuse, NY:
