APRIL BIRTH STORY 🌸🫶🏻 Part One:
First time moms are so incredible. A completely new experience, one that she has prepared long and hard for, announces the early labor stages and comes with such excitement and uncertainty. It can just look so many different ways. For this mama, her (very) early labor contractions began Monday evening. She texted that they were anywhere from 7-18 minutes apart. I told her to keep going about her evening, and check in if things picked up. From 10pm-2:30am she labored on her own, and we texted a bit, then hopped on FaceTime as it was beginning to sound more intense- but I wanted to actually see her through couple contractions. She was clearly working hard, stopping to breathe through contractions but chatting sleepily yet alert enough I could tell she had a long night ahead of her. I suggested she do the first two positions Miles Circuit and please try, try, tryyy to sleep. This is certainly true labor, I encouraged her, but it’s important to conserve energy and rest when possible. First babies often like to take their time 🙂↕️❤️
She labored all through the night, but contractions spaced out a bit. Unfortunately, not enough to get any good rest, though. The next morning, I got my big kid ready for school, littles situated with my mom, and by 9:30 I was on my way to support mama. When I arrived she was feeling pretty exhausted and discouraged, understandably. She had been working nonstop since about 6pm the night before! After getting a feel for her mindset and energy levels, we got to work with positioning. It was time to get this baby engaged and workin! From the time I arrived at 10am until about 5pm, she was the dream client, agreeing to every suggestion and position I threw at her - miles circuit, spinning babies, three sisters of balance, curb walking, ball movements, watching The Office (it’s not allllll bad hard or scary;) forward leaning inversions, more curb walking (that really got it going!) by 5:30 we were headed to the birth center, ready to meet a baby!! To be continued…
