October is also ADHD Awareness Month.

ADHD can affect attention, organization, time management, impulse control, starting tasks, finishing tasks, and even remembering something you genuinely intended to do five minutes ago.

And for some adults, the pieces don't begin to make sense until much later in life.

A social media post can't diagnose ADHD, and neither can an online checklist by itself.

But if difficulties with attention, organization, or executive function are interfering with work, school, relationships, or everyday life, it may be worth talking about with a healthcare professional.

Understanding what is happening is often the first step toward figuring out what can help.

🐝 Learn. Understand. Then make a plan.

πŸŽ€ About 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer during their lifetime.

That number is exactly why conversations about breast health matter.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month isn’t meant to create fear. It’s an opportunity to understand your personal risk, know when screening is recommended, and ask questions about anything you don’t understand.

A mammogram cannot prevent breast cancer, but screening can help find breast cancer earlier, sometimes before symptoms appear.

This October, take a moment to ask yourself:

🐝 Am I due for a mammogram?
🐝 Do I know my family history?
🐝 Have I talked with my healthcare provider about my individual risk?
🐝 Do I understand what my last mammogram report actually said?

Good preventive care starts with good information, and a conversation.

Know your risk. Ask questions. Make a plan.

October is also Health Literacy Month, and this one is especially close to what we believe at Doc Bee Well.

Healthcare has a language problem.

A1C. LDL. Dense breasts. Hypertension. Prediabetes. CMP. TSH.

Sometimes people leave a medical visit with more words but not necessarily more understanding.

You should be able to ask:

🐝 β€œWhat does that mean?”
🐝 β€œWhy are we doing this test?”
🐝 β€œWhat are my options?”
🐝 β€œWhat should I do next?”

Those are not bad questions. They are exactly the questions healthcare should help answer.

Our goal at Doc Bee Well is simple: make health information understandable enough to actually be useful.

Because understanding your health is part of taking care of it.

πŸŽ€ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Breast health isn’t just about wearing pink. It’s about understanding your risk, knowing when screening may be right for you, and feeling comfortable asking questions about your health.

A mammogram can’t prevent breast cancer, but screening can help find breast cancer earlier, often before there are symptoms.

This month, we’ll be sharing practical information about mammograms, breast density, preventive care, and how to have better conversations with your healthcare team.

At Doc Bee Well, we believe good healthcare starts with good information. Information you can actually understand and use.

🐝 Know your risk. Ask questions. Make a screening plan that fits you.

As National Recovery Month comes toward a close, there's one message worth carrying beyond September:

Recovery is healthcare.

Substance use disorders and mental health conditions shouldn't be treated as character flaws.

People deserve evidence-based treatment.

They deserve support.

They deserve healthcare professionals who listen without judgment.

And they deserve the opportunity to rebuild their health, relationships and lives without being permanently defined by one chapter of their story.

Recovery doesn't always happen in a straight line.

But progress is still progress.

Let's keep making healthcare a safer place to ask for help.

Hearing the words "thyroid nodule" can sound frightening.

But here's an important piece of context:

Thyroid nodules are common, and most are not cancer.

A thyroid nodule is simply an abnormal growth or lump within the thyroid gland. Some are discovered because a person notices something in their neck. Others are found unexpectedly during imaging performed for an entirely different reason.

When a nodule is discovered, clinicians may consider its size, ultrasound appearance, thyroid laboratory results, symptoms and other risk factors to decide whether it needs monitoring or additional evaluation.

A lump in your neck doesn't automatically mean cancer.

But a new or persistent neck lump, voice change, trouble swallowing or other concerning symptoms deserves attention.

Awareness should help us ask questions, not panic about the answers. πŸ’œπŸ¦‹

Fall is here.

Cooler mornings, changing leaves, football weekends, pumpkin everything...and a good opportunity to check in with your health before the year gets away from us.

Consider your own little fall health checklist:

πŸ‚ Have you checked your blood pressure recently?

πŸ‚ Are you due for routine labs or a preventive visit?

πŸ‚ Are your medications and refills up to date?

πŸ‚ Has your sleep schedule gotten off track?

πŸ‚ Are you moving your body regularly?

πŸ‚ Is there a health concern you've been saying, "I'll deal with that later," about?

You don't need a dramatic health makeover.

Pick one thing.

A healthier fall can start there. 🐝

If you've ever had your thyroid checked, you've probably seen three letters on your lab results:

TSH.

TSH stands for thyroid-stimulating hormone. It's produced by your pituitary gland and acts a little like a thermostat, signaling your thyroid when your body needs more thyroid hormone.

Generally, when thyroid hormone levels fall, TSH rises to tell the thyroid to work harder. When thyroid hormone levels rise, TSH usually falls.

But TSH isn't always the entire story.

Depending on your symptoms and medical history, your clinician may also look at tests such as Free T4, thyroid antibodies or other studies.

The important part isn't memorizing the numbers.

It's understanding what they mean in the context of YOU. πŸ¦‹

Sometimes self-care is a relaxing afternoon.

But sometimes self-care is...

Scheduling the appointment you've been avoiding.

Going to bed instead of scrolling for another hour.

Taking your medication.

Saying no when your plate is already full.

Going for a walk even when it's only ten minutes.

Talking to someone when you're struggling.

Checking your blood pressure.

Getting the lab work your doctor ordered six months ago. πŸ˜„

Taking care of yourself doesn't always feel glamorous.

Often, it's simply doing something today that makes tomorrow a little easier.

What's one small thing you could do for yourself this week?
