We recently had the absolute pleasure of hosting a Rural Trauma Team Development Course (RTTDC) out at Willapa Harbor Hospital alongside our talented Trauma Surgeons and APPs! It was such a fantastic experience bringing together a room full of dedicated frontline providers—from ED physicians and techs to RNs and local EMT partners.

Collaboration is truly at the heart of trauma care, and events like this allow us to build strong connections as a unified healthcare community to keep patient journeys seamless. Seeing the impressive teamwork and strong support system among the staff at Willapa Harbor was nothing short of inspiring.

Huge shoutout to everyone who took the time to sharpen their skills and connect with us, as well as our fantastic trauma leaders for sharing their expertise to make this session such a success!

Last weekend’s Jimmy Cason Memorial Golf Tournament was a huge success, and we were honored to be one of the sponsors. While connecting with our local crews is always a highlight, the mission was even better.

All proceeds from the tournament support Code 4 Northwest , an organization that provides essential, confidential mental health and crisis support for our first responders and their families throughout Washington.

We are proud to stand with Local 31 in honoring Jimmy’s memory and ensuring that those who run toward danger have a safe place to turn for help.

We are thrilled to share that for Spring 2026, the Leapfrog Group has awarded an "A" grade for patient safety to six VMFH hospitals, including five of our Trauma Centers! This achievement underscores our commitment to providing the highest standard of care. We take great pride in being part of a healthcare system where patient safety remains a top priority. 🎉🎉

Exceptional patient safety! Six Virginia Mason Franciscan Health hospitals have earned an "A" grade from the Leapfrog Group for Spring 2026.

St. Anthony Hospital, Virginia Mason Medical Center, St. Anne Hospital, St. Joseph Medical Center, St. Michael Medical Center, and St. Clare Hospital all received this prestigious recognition for their commitment to protecting patients and preventing medical errors, accidents, and infections.

This achievement is even more notable when compared to our community. While 86% of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health hospitals earned an "A" grade, only 12% of other local community hospitals achieved the same recognition.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the gold standard for evaluating patient safety, using national performance data to assign grades based on errors, accidents, injuries, and infections. An "A" grade reflects our unwavering commitment to the highest standards of safety and quality care.

Congratulations to our teams at all six hospitals for this outstanding achievement. Your dedication to patient safety makes a life-saving difference every single day.

May marks National Trauma Awareness Month! This year, we're amplifying the national theme: “Stay Focused. Stay Safe.” While we cherish every one of our patients, our ultimate hope is for safer communities, and we know that simple, mindful actions can profoundly impact injury prevention.

Trauma care is truly a team sport, and this month also shines a light on the incredible contributors behind the scenes and at the bedside.
