AIDB Baseball Night at Choccolocco Park
Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind (AIDB) sponsored an evening of baseball at Choccolocco Park for students, staff, alumni, friends and the entire AIDB community. Over 450+ fans showed up to enjoy the Choccolocco Monsters take on the Atlanta Astros in a double-header on Wednesday, June 10th at 5:00 pm. Units and departments across all of AIDB set up booths and tables to share the AIDB story to the community. βIt was great to see all of AIDB come together for such a fun night of fun and sharing of the AIDB story, β said Becky Watson, Chief Institutional Advancement Officer for AIDB.
Clara Scelsi, a rising 11th grader at the Alabama School for the Blind, sang the National Anthem while David Vaden, an alumnus of the Alabama School for the Deaf, performed it in American Sign Language. Both did a beautiful job. Annaya Fanning, a student from the Alabama School for the Deaf (ASD) STEM Academy threw out the first pitch to get the game started. Several other students from the ASD STEM Academy led the crowd in βTake Me Out to the Ballgameβ during the 7th inning stretch. A good time was had by all!
