On this Giving Tuesday, we hope you will take a moment to learn how Life Worth Leading is changing lives for people of all abilities. We develop opportunities where people of all abilities can learn, explore, and grow. Our organization has spent the past year serving communities throughout Florida in impactful ways that make a real difference.

We worked with kids with disabilities at Rotary Youth Camp in Quincy, giving them cool SCUBA experiences in a supportive environment to build confidence and joy. At The Family Cafe in Orlando, we connected with families and provided opportunities for people with disabilities to experience SCUBA diving and snorkeling. We participated in an ADA event in Jacksonville to promote accessibility and inclusion, and we supported multiple SportsAbility Alliance programs in Tallahassee and other parts of the state to provide adaptive recreation for people who often have limited access to these activities.

We remain dedicated to supporting U.S. military veterans with disabilities, including combat-wounded veterans, by offering adaptive SCUBA opportunities, leadership development, and outdoor activities that promote healing, confidence, and connection. In addition, we are committed to environmental stewardship by participating in community cleanups including projects with Keep Wakulla County Beautiful to help protect the natural spaces we enjoy.

This year we launched a search and recovery SCUBA dive team to help locate missing people, especially in partnership with rural law enforcement agencies. We provide these services at no charge and have invested in essential equipment, including an underwater communication system, to support our efforts safely and effectively.

In addition to these efforts, in the past 10 years of service, we have provided more than 400 scholarships for open water SCUBA certifications and more than 400 scholarships for advanced levels including leadership training for divemasters and instructors. We continue to invest in adaptive SCUBA gear, bicycles, and trikes to help people of all abilities participate fully in activities they may have believed were out of reach.

We are fortunate to have a leadership team of 22 people who bring a wide range of experiences and perspectives to our work. Our team includes military veterans with disabilities, a music teacher, an audiologist, an archaeologist, a marine biologist, an attorney, a firefighter, law enforcement professionals, educators, a leadership coach, a professor, an electrician, and many others. We value the diversity of our team and the strength it brings to our mission.

We have a free club SCUBA Friends with over 3,000 members, and it is a community where people can connect with dive buddies, plan trips together, and learn together. Our focus is always on creating an environment where everyone is welcomed, included, and able to grow to their full potential.

If our work resonates with you, we hope you will consider supporting our mission on this Giving Tuesday or any other time. Your generosity allows us to continue offering scholarships, adaptive equipment, and inclusive programs.

We are so very thankful to generous fans like Joe! Joe donated a lot of well-needed SCUBA supplies today including two cylinders, regulator, lots of wetsuits, and many other gear that we need for our nonprofit organization. Joe’s wife Diane was a marine biologist who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease last year, and sadly lost her life not long after the diagnosis. We think Diane would be very proud of Joe for his kindness in donating gear that will be used to serve people with disabilities including kids at Rotary Youth Camp, Family Café, SportsAbility, wounded veterans, and so much more. Thank you, Joe!

We love our team of dedicated divers who give back to our communities. Friday we are holding SCUBA Search and Recovery pool training in Tallahassee, Florida for volunteers who want to help with efforts to provide search and recovery of missing people. We work closely with law enforcement, especially in rural counties, in partnership with North Florida Search Team, to help search for and recover people. We provide the dive team and our tools and resources at no charge.

The objective of Friday's training- conducted by Scuba Educators International instructor Dr. Gabrielle K Gabrielli is to prepare search and recovery divers to perform safe, efficient, and coordinated underwater operations in support of law enforcement and public safety missions, particularly in rural and resource-limited environments. Participants will strengthen their readiness and effectiveness to assist local agencies and land search teams by developing proficiency in buoyancy, communication, line handling, search patterns, object recovery, and emergency management. Emphasis is placed on teamwork, precision, safety, situational awareness, and accountability to ensure professional, dependable, and life-saving underwater response capabilities.
