Jarrod Mousa, PhD and his research team are seeking pregnant women in their second trimester who plan to breastfeed and would like to learn more about vaccines that may help protect their baby against RSV.

❤️ Heart Health & Nutrition Study
Andrea Lobene, PhD and her team are studying how lowering sodium intake or increasing potassium intake can affect the health of blood vessels.

Join us on July 22, 2026, from 12:00–1:00 PM for an important conversation on community violence prevention, research, and evidence-based policing strategies.

🔍 A Discussion on the Anatomy of a Homicide Project
Between January 2021 and December 2025, 126 homicides occurred in Leon County. The Leon County Sheriff's Office developed the Anatomy of a Homicide Project to better understand the factors behind these tragedies and identify strategies to reduce violence in our community.

Learn how this research is informing innovative violence reduction efforts, including the Council on the Status of Men and Boys (CSMB), which is working to reduce homicides and non-fatal gun violence among males in the Tallahassee-Leon County area.

FSU Health Community Engagement along with TMH partner Dawn Newnam Springs at the United Partners for Human Services Annual Leadership Conference yesterday! Many thanks to Lashawn Gordon, Justin Fitzpatrick, and Marnie Earl for hosting such an outstanding event!

It was a wonderful opportunity for our Director, Dr. Ursula Weiss to connect with both new and longstanding partners, strengthen relationships, and explore new opportunities for collaboration with Valencia L Scott, Brittany Jones, Suzanne Holloway, Talethia O. After the great success of The Human Genome Project, we are now able to “read” the entire 6 billion letters of an individual’s genetic blueprint in an affordable and timely way. One of the most powerful applications of this genome sequencing is the identification of the “root cause” of a child’s undiagnosed, complex medical conditions or developmental disabilities like autism, intellectual disabilities, epilepsy and cerebral palsy. This technology is now standard-of-care and reimbursed by most insurance companies and Florida Medicaid.

Examples of the sometimes life-saving and often life-changing benefits of this Genomics & Precision Health approach will be presented for critically ill babies in the neonatal intensive care unit, for young children in pediatrics clinics, and for future application to all babies born in the State of Florida as part of routine newborn screening.
