Elderberry season! 💜 One of my absolute favorite times of year. There’s something so special about foraging and harvesting these little superfoods near our beautiful little acreage.

An evening ride on the 4-wheeler, peaceful country roads, and witness to a gorgeous sunset along the way-- I really should never take this for granted. 🌿✨

And this evening I brewed these little berries into a homemade elderberry elixir, infused with fresh ginger, organic cinnamon, organic clove, a touch of local honey, and fresh lemon. 🍋🌿

Elderberries are naturally rich in antioxidants, while ginger, cinnamon, and clove bring their own antioxidant and warming properties to the mix. Honey adds the very slightest sweetness, and lemon brings a bright dose of vitamin C. Together, they make a delicious, comforting seasonal elixir that’s perfect for supporting everyday wellness—especially as cooler months are just around the corner 💜

Super great reference guide for all my egg lovin' peeps!

I do the float test on all of our eggs that get washed. However, if you"ve requested unwashed or purchase unwashed to keep the protective bloom then you can trust this method if you want to test before cracking!

Otherwise, I crack all my eggs into a custard dish before adding to the pan or recipe, just like I learned in Home Ec class in 7th grade! Mrs. McMullen would be so proud! 🥚

Not sure if those eggs are still fresh? Grab a bowl of cold water and let nature do the testing! Fresh eggs sink and lay flat. Still safe? They’ll stand upright. But if they float... it’s time to let go.
