Health officials are investigating a multi-state Cyclospora outbreak linked to contaminated fresh produce. Here’s what you need to know. 👇🏽
🦠 What is Cyclospora?
Cyclospora is a microscopic parasite that infects the intestines and can cause prolonged, watery diarrhea and other digestive symptoms.

🥗 How do people get infected?
Most infections occur after eating or drinking food or water contaminated with Cyclospora—especially certain fresh produce. The parasite is not usually spread directly from person to person.
🛡️ How to Protect Yourself
🚿 Wash fruits and vegetables under running water.
🧼 Wash your hands with soap and water before preparing food.
🥬 Remove damaged outer leaves from leafy greens.
🍽️ Cook foods thoroughly when appropriate.
💧 Stay hydrated if you become sick.
