The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborh

ood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help. CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.

Hurricane season is approaching fast, now is the time to prepare.

🏠 Prepare Your Home
• Check shutters and windows
• Trim trees and clear debris
• Test generators and backup power

🧰 Start Your Emergency Kit
• Water (2 gallon per person, per day)
• Non-perishable food (3–7 days)
• Flashlights & extra batteries
• First aid kit & medications
• Important documents (waterproof & digital copies)
• Phone chargers & backup power banks

It might seem harmless… but placing your phone under a pillow or blanket while charging can turn into a serious fire hazard.

📱 Phones generate heat while charging
🛏️ Bedding traps that heat
đźš« No airflow = rising temperatures
🔥 Increased risk of overheating, battery failure, or fire

Lithium-ion batteries don’t play nice when they overheat and nearby fabric can ignite faster than you think.

Charge smart. Sleep safe.
