Same relief. 4.4× fewer complications.

At American Society of Pain and Neuroscience ASPN 2026 Annual Meeting, Dr. Leonardo Kapural, MD, PhD presented a propensity-matched, head-to-head comparison of the posterior vs. lateral approach to the SI joint — 33 matched pairs, 12-month follow-up.

The result: equivalent pain relief (p = 0.576, non-inferiority met), with a 4.4× lower adverse-event rate and zero neurological injuries on the posterior side.

Today at the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience ASPN 2026 Annual Meeting, we're proud to share new scientific evidence that continues to strengthen the foundation supporting posterior sacroiliac joint procedures.

Our latest presentations bring together three complementary pillars of evidence:
🔹 Anatomical validation through the PRADA Study—the first large-scale CT-based characterization of sacroiliac joint cortical bone thickness.
🔹 Biomechanical research demonstrating improved fixation characteristics and resistance to micromotion.
🔹 Multicenter real-world clinical experience across 154 patients treated at 61 clinical sites, showing encouraging early outcomes.

Together, these studies provide converging anatomical, biomechanical, and clinical evidence supporting the TRAQ™ cortical-piercing fixation strategy and reflect our ongoing commitment to advancing evidence-based care for patients with sacroiliac joint dysfunction.

A sincere thank you to our physician investigators—including Douglas Beall, Dawood Sayed, Tim Deer, MD, Leonardo Kapural, MD, PhD, and Corey Hunter—as well as our clinical research team lead by Lalit Venkatesan, PhD and everyone at PainTEQ whose dedication made this work possible.

Advancing through science, evidence, and shared clinical experience.
This past weekend, PainTEQ welcomed physicians and APPs to ACES – Advanced Clinical Excellence Summit, bringing together a distinguished faculty and engaged healthcare professionals for meaningful discussions around SI joint care, patient pathways, evidence, procedural best practices, and evolving clinical perspectives.
Through case-based learning, peer collaboration, and thoughtful dialogue, ACES created an opportunity to exchange insights, challenge thinking, and advance conversations focused on improving patient care.
A sincere thank you to our outstanding faculty, attendees, and team members who contributed their expertise, perspectives, and commitment to clinical excellence.
Interested in participating in a future ACES? Please connect with your PainTEQ representative to learn more about upcoming educational opportunities.
We are grateful for the collaboration and look forward to continuing to advance education, innovation, and patient care together.
