Community matters, especially when you’re a small business owner. 🤍

One of Kristen’s favorite parts of being involved with MOST, Moms of South Tampa, is getting to know the women and professionals behind so many local businesses in our community.

Those connections aren’t just good for business. They help us build a network of people we know and trust, learn from one another, and better support our patients when they need resources or care outside of Parkside.

We love being part of the South Tampa community and getting to know the people who make it so special

How good is an audiologist at reading lips? We put Kristen to the test 😂👄

Turns out, we rely on a LOT more than sound when we’re having a conversation. Facial expressions, lip movements, body language, and context can all help our brains piece together what someone is saying.

That’s why something as simple as facing someone when you speak to them can make a big difference, especially for someone with hearing loss.

Now try this challenge at home and tell us how many YOU get right!

Your Q-tips and your audiologist may have slightly different ideas about what “cleaning your ears” means 👀👂

Putting a Q-tip into your ear canal can actually push wax deeper instead of removing it. And in many cases, your ears are pretty good at cleaning themselves!

If your ears feel blocked, your hearing seems muffled, or you think wax might be building up, let a professional take a look before you start digging.

Your ears will thank you 🤍

Your eyes get checked. Your teeth get cleaned. You keep up with your annual physical... but when was the last time you checked your hearing? 👂

You don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to understand conversations to pay attention to your hearing health. A baseline hearing evaluation can help you understand where your hearing is today and give you something to compare against in the future.

Tampa, consider this your sign to add hearing to your health checklist 🤍

Your AirPods aren’t automatically the enemy of your hearing 👀🎧

What matters is how loud you’re listening and for how long, and your iPhone has built-in features that can help you keep an eye on both.

From monitoring headphone audio levels to loud-sound notifications and volume settings, a few small adjustments now can help you be more mindful of the hearing you want to keep for years to come. 👂

Consider this your sign to check your headphone settings!

Meet the Parkside Audiology - Dr. Taylor Van Warner 👂

A Tampa Bay local through and through, Dr. Van Warner earned her Doctor of Audiology from the University of South Florida and has been practicing since 2020, with experience in VA, private practice, and ENT settings. She specializes in hearing aids and tinnitus management.

Her favorite part of audiology? Getting to know her patients and their loved ones and seeing how better hearing can make a difference in their everyday lives. 🤍

Outside of Parkside, you can usually find her gardening at home in St. Pete, out on the boat exploring Tampa Bay, or spending time with her husband and their rescue dog, Pablo 🐾

Give Dr. Van Warner a shoutout below! 👋

Can you guess what we’re going to see at the Straz Center?

Here’s a hint: we’re not throwing away our shot 😉🎶

Many of our patients love going to the Straz, so while we’re there, the Parkside team has another mission: experience the theatre through the ears of our patients.

We want to explore questions like: Where are the best seats for someone with hearing loss? What assistive listening options are available? Does where you sit make a difference in speech clarity? And what can someone with hearing aids do to get the best possible listening experience at a live performance?

Because hearing loss isn’t always about things being too quiet. Often, it’s about clarity. And when you’ve been looking forward to a Broadway show, you want to catch the dialogue, the music, the jokes, and every one of those lyrics 🎶👂

We’ll be sharing what we learn so our patients can feel more confident planning their next night at the Straz.

And speaking of not missing your shot...
There’s a new character about to enter the Parkside story 👀

Introducing Dr. Potter.
You haven’t met him yet, but you will very soon.
The Parkside story continues... just you wait ⭐️

If you remember carrying one of these around... this Reel might be for you 😂🎶

As we get older, keeping up with our hearing can become just as important as keeping up with our eyes, teeth, and annual physical.

A hearing evaluation can give you a baseline of where your hearing is today, so you have something to compare against if things change down the road.

You don’t have to wait until you’re struggling to start paying attention to your hearing. 👂

50+? Consider adding hearing to your health checklist.

Heading to a baseball game? ⚾️ Keep those hearing aids IN 👂

You don’t need to take them out because you’re worried the stadium will be too loud. Many modern hearing aids have automatic features designed to help manage background noise while keeping the sounds and conversations you actually want to hear more accessible.

So yes, wear your hearing aids, enjoy the game, and stay part of the conversation.

And whether you’re rooting for the Rays or the Red Sox… WEAR THE HEARING AIDS! 😉⚾️

October is Audiology Awareness Month, so we’re answering a question we hear more often than you might think: What does an audiologist actually do? 👂

Audiology goes far beyond hearing aids. Audiologists are highly trained healthcare professionals who evaluate and manage hearing and balance concerns, help patients navigate hearing technology, provide hearing protection, and so much more.

Most importantly, we help people stay connected to the conversations and moments that matter to them. 🤍
