✅ Challenge case ✨ This patient underwent a Lipo 360 + BBL without a tummy tuck. She had history of 4 C-sections, significant skin laxity, abdominal wall weakness/diastasis. She developed postoperative anemia, seromas after her surgery
Important to say that She chose to proceed without a tummy tuck as part of her personal surgical goals — not because it was recommended over one.
When a patient has excess skin, diastasis, and declines an abdominoplasty, the postoperative recovery process becomes much more complex. Skin laxity combined with postoperative anemia can significantly increase the risk of fluid retention, prolonged swelling, seroma formation, adhesions, and fibrosis after liposuction and BBL surgery.
During recovery, she developed a seroma and required a highly customized postoperative care plan focused on:
• Advanced Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) to support other areas of her body.
• Fibrosis prevention & management
• Adhesion prevention
• Compression optimization
• Inflammation control
• Red light therapy & recovery support
• Close postoperative health monitoring by an RN. We had to control the anemia, and the inflammatory process, taking into consideration her medical history.
After 15 sessions, we achieved a beautiful improvement in contour, tissue quality, fibrosis control, and overall healing progression. ✨
However, it is important to educate patients that manual therapy does not remove excess skin laxity. In many cases, skin tightening may require electrotherapy during the appropriate healing window or future surgical correction. Timing to use electrotherapy matters — because early intervention may contribute to additional inflammation and fibrosis development.
Every body heals differently. Understanding the patient’s history, surgical choices, anatomy, and long-term goals is what allows us to create a strategic recovery plan safely and effectively.
Mission accomplished. 🤍
