One of my friends—who also happens to be one of Koa's baseball teammates' moms—asked me for ideas to help her son this summer. Between baseball, workouts, and a busy schedule, he was burning so many calories that he was having a hard time keeping weight on.
As we were talking, it hit me...
Our goals are almost complete opposites.
I'm working to lose body fat while building and maintaining muscle.
Koa is trying to gain weight and muscle so he can keep up with baseball, lifting, and all the calories he's burning.
But here's the interesting part...
🍗 We eat the same proteins.
🍚 We eat the same carbohydrates.
🥑 We eat the same healthy fats.
🥦 We eat the same fruits and vegetables.
The biggest difference isn't 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 we eat—it's 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 we eat.
Instead of making separate meals for everyone, build one balanced meal and adjust the portions based on each person's age, activity level, and goals.
Because healthy nutrition isn't one-size-fits-all.
✨ The same meal can help one person lose body fat while helping another gain healthy weight and muscle.
If this was helpful, save this post for your next meal plan and send it to another parent who's trying to fuel a growing teen athlete while taking care of their own health. 💙
