Every child has their own preferences—and sometimes those preferences change from day to day! 💙

Bubbles or music? 🫧🎵
Movement or a cozy space? 🛝🧸
Creative activities or a favorite toy? 🎨🧩
Together time or quiet time? 🤗🌿

Learning what a child enjoys can help us better understand what feels motivating, comforting, and meaningful to them. ✨

Progress doesn’t always happen in big, obvious moments. 🌱

Sometimes progress looks like asking for help when something feels difficult. Needing one less prompt. Trying something new. Transitioning with a little less support. Or using a skill somewhere new for the very first time.

Those moments may seem small—but they matter. 💙

At Brave Steps ABA, we believe meaningful progress is about more than checking off goals. It’s about building communication, independence, flexibility, and skills that support everyday life.

Because small steps are still steps forward. 🤍

What’s a small win you’re celebrating lately? 🌱

Some things are just kinda chic. ✨

Like building goals around real life, asking families what matters to them, recognizing that meaningful learning can happen through play, and giving RBTs the support they need to do their best work.

At Brave Steps ABA, we believe quality care grows through consistency, collaboration, meaningful goals, and a team that feels supported—because every brave step forward matters. 👣💙

What would you add to our “kinda chic” list?

An ABA treatment plan isn’t meant to stay exactly the same forever—it should grow with the learner. 💙

During a reassessment, the BCBA may review:

📈 Progress toward current goals
🌱 Skills the learner has gained
🔎 Areas where additional support may be needed
🏡 Current routines and family priorities
📝 Goals or strategies that may need to be updated

A reassessment doesn’t mean something is wrong. It helps ensure services continue to reflect the learner’s current strengths, needs, and meaningful priorities.

What questions do you have about the reassessment process?

Sometimes, helping less means independence is growing. 💙

When a child learns a new skill, like putting on their shoes, support might look different over time:

👟 First, we show them how.
👆 Next, we offer a smaller reminder.
🌟 Eventually, they do it on their own.

This process is called prompt fading: gradually reducing support as confidence and independence grow.

Every learner moves at their own pace, and every step forward matters. 👣

What everyday skill is your child working on?

Families deserve more than services—they deserve a team they can trust. 💙

That means consistent care, clear communication, meaningful goals, and collaboration that includes the people who know the learner best.

Because when families feel heard, informed, and supported, everyone can move forward together—one brave step at a time. 👣

What helps you feel supported by your child’s care team?

The first week of ABA isn’t about rushing progress—it’s about building the foundation for it. 💙

During those early sessions, the team may focus on:

👣 Helping the learner feel comfortable
🧸 Discovering their interests and preferences
💬 Learning how they communicate
🏡 Observing everyday routines
🌱 Introducing goals gradually
🤝 Keeping caregivers informed

Every learner’s first week will look different because effective ABA should be individualized from the very beginning.

What questions would you have before your child’s first ABA session?

Why would ABA take place in the community? 🌎

Because skills are most meaningful when they can be used in everyday life. When appropriate for the learner and connected to their individualized goals, community-based sessions may help practice:

👣 Staying safely with a caregiver
⏳ Waiting in line
💬 Asking for help or a break
🥪 Making a choice or ordering
🔄 Transitioning between locations
🚫 Responding when something is unavailable

Community outings aren’t simply field trips. They provide opportunities to practice meaningful skills in the real-life settings where they’re needed most.

What community routine would you like to feel easier for your family?

Back-to-school can bring big changes—and sometimes, big behaviors. 🎒💙

A new routine, earlier mornings, increased demands, different adults, and less downtime can make skills that seemed solid over the summer feel a little shaky.

That doesn’t always mean a skill has been lost. Sometimes, it means a child is still adjusting. 🌱

Instead of focusing only on the behavior, consider asking: What changed, and what support might help right now?

Give it time. Celebrate the small wins. Keep communication open between home, school, and your child’s therapy team.

Every brave step forward still counts. ✨
