Feeling understood by a provider matters, especially when your identity has not always been welcomed in healthcare settings.

LGBTQ+ individuals often navigate spaces where they have to explain themselves before receiving care, and that adds a layer of weight that has nothing to do with why they came in. Affirming care means you do not have to manage that here.

At Turnwell Mental Health, our providers approach every patient with respect for who they are, not just what they are presenting with clinically.

This Pride Month, we want anyone who has put off care because of past experiences in healthcare settings to know that a different kind of visit is possible here.

Summer is supposed to be fun, but for many parents, it can also be exhausting.
The routines are gone, the days feel longer, and the constant balancing act of work, parenting, activities, and everyday responsibilities can leave even the most dedicated parents feeling stretched thin.

It's important to recognize that summer stress is real. When parents are overwhelmed, it can affect the entire family—including children's emotional well-being.

At Turnwell Mental Health, we support children, adolescents, and parents because family mental health is connected. When one person is struggling, the whole family feels it. When support is available, everyone benefits.

If this season is feeling heavier than expected, you don't have to navigate it alone. Support is available for the whole family.

National Men's Health Week is a good moment to slow down and take stock of what is actually going on, not just physically, but mentally too.

Men's health conversations have historically centered on the body, which matters. But mental health is part of that picture in ways that often go unaddressed. Stress, mood changes, difficulty concentrating, and withdrawal from things that used to feel good are signals worth paying attention to, not pushing through.

At Turnwell Mental Health, we provide psychiatric and counseling care specifically attentive to the ways mental health shows up differently for men, and we meet patients where they are in that process.

This week is a reasonable place to start paying closer attention.

There is a difference between being productive and being well, and for many professionals, those two things have quietly come apart.

High-functioning burnout can look like success from the outside. Deliverables get met, calendars stay full, and the outward signals are fine. But concentration gets harder, small things feel disproportionately heavy, and the things that used to feel meaningful at work start to feel hollow. These are not signs of weakness or ingratitude. They are signs that something needs attention.

At Turnwell Mental Health, we work with professionals who are carrying more than their job description accounts for, and who are ready to address it in a setting that fits their schedule and their life.

Being good at your job does not have to cost this much.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, Turnwell was honored to participate in Mental Health in Motion aboard the USS Yorktown.

Seeing hundreds of people come together in support of mental wellness was a powerful reminder that no one has to face life’s challenges alone.

Thank you to the event organizers and every individual who took time to prioritize their mental health, support others, and strengthen our community.

At Turnwell, we’re committed to making mental health care accessible, compassionate, and stigma-free.

💚 When communities move together, they heal together.

For many men, asking for help with mental health feels like crossing a line they were never taught was okay to cross.

That hesitation is real and it makes sense given how most men are raised around the subject. But the distance between recognizing something is hard and actually talking to someone about it does not have to be as wide as it feels. Therapy and psychiatric care for men look practical, not performative. Sessions are focused, private, and built around what works for the individual.

At Turnwell Mental Health, we see men who are coming in for the first time and men who have been working on their mental health for years. Both are welcome here.

The first appointment is usually the hardest part.

One of the most common things people with PTSD describe is feeling like their body is still living in a moment that the calendar says is over.

That experience has a name. Trauma responses, including hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, avoidance, and physical reactivity, are the nervous system's attempt to stay protected long after a threat has passed. They are not a character flaw, and they are not permanent. Effective, evidence-based treatments for PTSD exist and work for a wide range of trauma histories.

At Turnwell Mental Health, our providers are trained in trauma-focused care and work with patients at every stage of the process, including people who are just beginning to name what they have been carrying.

You do not have to understand it fully to take a first step.

A few weeks into summer, the initial excitement of no school can quietly give way to something harder to name.

For some kids and teens, that shift looks like sleeping later and staying up longer, pulling away from people, or losing interest in things they normally enjoy. These changes are easy to attribute to summer laziness, but they are sometimes worth a closer look. Mood and behavior shifts in young people often have more going on underneath.

At Turnwell Mental Health, our providers work with children and adolescents throughout the year, including during summers when patterns start to change and parents are not sure what they are seeing.

If something feels off, it is worth talking to someone.

June is Professional Wellness Month, and it arrives at a time of year when many working adults are already running on a depleted tank.

The pressure to perform, meet deadlines, and stay available does not pause when the calendar changes. Over time, that sustained pressure can affect sleep, concentration, mood, and relationships in ways that are gradual enough to miss until they become hard to ignore.

Workplace stress and burnout are not the same as simply being tired, and they are not resolved by taking a long weekend.

At Turnwell Mental Health, we work with professionals who are navigating exactly this, people who are functioning on the outside but struggling to keep pace on the inside.

Your work performance is not the only thing worth protecting this month.

Thank you, Hallandale Beach, for the warm welcome.

It was an honor to come out and share what we do with this community. Conversations about mental health are not always easy to start, and we are grateful for every person who stopped to talk, ask questions, or simply listen.

At Turnwell Mental Health, we believe care works best when it meets people where they are. Events like this one remind us why showing up in person matters.

Our Aventura clinic serves the Hallandale Beach area with psychiatric and therapy services for adults, adolescents, and families. If yesterday sparked something for you, we are here when you are ready.
