If you’re like me and love hiking or spending time in the woods, chances are you’ve had a tick on you before.

These tiny creatures can sometimes cause big problems. One lesser-known condition is alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) — a tick bite-related allergy that can trigger delayed reactions to mammalian meat and other mammalian-derived products hours after eating.

As tick season picks up:
✔️ Check for ticks after being outdoors
✔️ Wear protective clothing
✔️ Remove ticks promptly

Dairy products are often marketed as essential for health — but what does the research actually show?

In my newest article, I explore some of the potential health concerns linked to dairy consumption, including inflammation, acne, cardiovascular disease, lactose intolerance, and more — along with practical plant-based alternatives that can help support overall health.

New research continues to strengthen the connection between gut health and autoimmune disease.

A 2025 systematic review and meta-analysis found that people with autoimmune conditions commonly have:
• gut dysbiosis (imbalanced gut bacteria)
• increased intestinal permeability (“leaky gut”)
• and immune dysregulation

The review also found that gut-supportive strategies — including fiber-rich plant foods, prebiotics, probiotics, and anti-inflammatory dietary patterns — may help support immune balance and reduce inflammation in some individuals.

Some of the foods most consistently associated with a healthier microbiome included:
🥦 Vegetables
🫘 Legumes
🍎 Fruits
🌾 Whole grains
🌰 Nuts & seeds

While more research is still needed, the evidence continues to support the important role that diet and gut health may play in immune function. 💚
