He didn’t come in knowing what he wanted
He came in knowing what he’d been through
That’s all I needed

We spent an hour together
He talked — about his faith, his family, his children, the temptations he’d faced and made it through, the foundation he inherited and the one he’s building now
About being proud of who he is and the life he chose

I wrote down everything that mattered
Every phrase that landed
Every image that surfaced in how he described his own story

Then I went away and built this

The broken staircase — the foundation laid for him, and the chance to keep building from it
The heart — love for his own life, and for his family
The dove — salvation
The reaching hand releasing it — freedom chosen over temptation
The broken sword — the end of conflict. Peace. Resolution.
Three flowers — His children
The clock — ‘live this life while you have time’

Every element earned its place
Nothing is decorative

Something starts to shift around week three

Not dramatically
Not all at once
But people start noticing things

They catch themselves choosing a different thought than they would have before
They find something small to smile about that they would have walked past two weeks ago
They feel — for the first time in a long time — like there’s a little more air in the room

The experience they came in carrying starts to feel less like something happening inside them and more like something they can look at
Hold at arm’s length
Examine without it taking them under

Things start falling into place internally
Not answers exactly — more like understanding
Acceptance
A sense that what happened to them makes sense in the context of who they are becoming

They start being more patient
Not perfect
But trying
And noticing when they’re trying

They start choosing happy — not as a performance, not as toxic positivity — as a conscious decision they’re making every single day

That’s what the six weeks is for

Not to build a tattoo
To bring light to the dark
To clear the fog
To create enough space between you and what happened that you can finally see it for what it actually gave you — not just what it took

I work with people through this process because I have been in the dark myself
I know what it feels like to carry something so heavy it changes how you move through the world
I know what it takes to put it down
And I know how to hold space for someone else’s pain without flinching — because I’ve sat with my own

The tattoo marks the moment the fog lifts
The moment you stopped being lost in what happened and started walking toward who you’re becoming

That’s what gets put on your skin
That’s what you carry for the rest of your life

Not because anyone needs fixing

Because once you start, you start noticing all the blank space that’s just... waiting

A shoulder that wants a frame
A thigh with room for one more piece
A story that isn’t finished yet

After a year and a half in this private space, this studio is relocating to a new home
And the chapter we’ve built here is coming to a close

We’re starting fresh -
it’s bigger
it’s better
and it’s everything this studio was always meant to become

Before I leave this nest to build a new one,
I have a handful of spots left in this studio!

Somewhere along the way, tattooing and coaching stopped being two separate things I do and became one lens I see people through
If you tell me you’re stuck, overthinking something, avoiding a conversation, or sitting in a feeling you don’t want to sit in,
My brain goes straight to “okay, what can we build out of this?”

I’ve watched people process more in one tattoo session than in months of sitting with a problem alone
Regulation, release, a decision made permanent on purpose
‘Project: Don’t Forget to Live’ exists because of that

‘Don’t Forget to Live’ isn’t just a phrase, it’s the reminder that life is happening now, not after everything gets figured out

So yes, come to me for advice
Just know there’s a real chance we end up in the shop anyway

Tattooing is where I live: custom designs, stained-glass style work, memorial pieces, cover-ups — if it tells a story, I want to build it with you

I’m also a certified Neuro Transformational Therapy practitioner and coach, which shapes how I tattoo as much as what I tattoo
I take the trust people hand me seriously — with their body, their story, their nervous system in that chair
Every piece I make is built with intention, piece by piece, with meaning behind each one
