Today, on HIV Long-Term Survivors Awareness Day, we honor the resilience, strength, and legacy of HIV Long-Term Survivors (HLTS). Before the introduction of HAART in 1996, an HIV diagnosis was often met with fear and limited treatment options.

HLTS includes:
> Individuals diagnosed before 1996 and the introduction of HAART
> People who have been living with HIV for over 10 years
> Lifetime survivors, also known as โ€œDandelions,โ€ who acquired HIV at birth or during early childhood

This day is a reminder to celebrate the lives, voices, leadership, and contributions of long-term HIV survivors everywhere.
