To Every Grieving Parent Who’s Wondering If God Is Even Real Anymore
There’s a level of pain that strips everything away—
your strength, your faith, your identity,
even your ability to believe in anything at all.
Losing a child takes you to that place.
A place where you don’t want Bible verses…
you want answers.
You want comfort that actually holds.
You want God to explain Himself.
You want your child back.
And if you’ve ever sat alone and thought:
“God… if You’re real, how could You let this happen?”
“Why didn’t You save my baby?”
“Why am I suffering like this?”
I need you to know something that most people will never say out loud:
God isn’t offended by your questions.
He isn’t angry at your anger.
And your doubt doesn’t scare Him away.
He heard you when you screamed.
He saw you collapse to the floor.
He sat in the quiet with you
when you felt like your soul couldn’t take another breath.
You may not have felt Him—
but that doesn’t mean He wasn’t there.
And no… He didn’t allow this because you were strong enough.
No grieving parent is “strong enough.”
Sometimes life pours you from vessel to vessel
so violently
that you think He’s punishing you…
or abandoning you…
or proving He doesn’t exist.
But that pouring…
that shifting…
that breaking…
is not God removing Himself from you—
it’s Him remaking you in the middle of devastation
in ways you can’t see yet.
When your child died,
a part of you died too.
God knows that.
He felt that.
He mourned that.
Jeremiah says God’s heart “moans like a flute.”
Meaning…
He doesn’t watch your suffering from afar.
He grieves with you—deeply.
And for the parent who feels like:
“I can’t feel God.”
“I don’t know if He’s real anymore.”
“I’m angry at Him.”
“I’m hurt by Him.”
You’re not alone.
So many grieving parents feel that exact same thing
and they’re afraid to say it out loud.
But here… in this space…
you can be honest.
You can be angry.
You can be doubtful.
You can be broken.
You can be faithless.
And God will still stay.
He doesn’t walk away when you collapse.
He sits in the rubble with you
until you’re able to breathe again.
He is holding more of you
than you realize.
He’s holding the pieces you’ve been trying to keep from falling apart.
He’s holding the memories you’re scared to lose.
He’s holding the love you still carry for your child.
He’s holding the anger, the confusion, the numbness, the exhaustion—
all of it.
And even though it feels like your world ended,
this is not the end of your story.
You’re being poured, yes.
You’re being stretched beyond what feels human, yes.
But you are also being rebuilt—
quietly, slowly, painfully—
into someone who will carry both love and loss
with a strength you don’t feel yet.
If you’re reading this and your chest hurts,
if tears are sitting behind your eyes,
if you feel alone or forgotten or faithless…
this message is for you.
You’re not abandoned.
You’re not wrong for questioning.
And you’re not walking this valley alone.
Drop a ❤️ for your child’s name if you want them honored here—
and for every parent in this group who needs to know
that their grief is seen,
their pain is valid,
and that God is still closer than they think.
