Let’s keep it real: yes, I’ve had bruising happen and yes, I’ve had moments where outcomes weren’t perfectly predictable just like every injector who actually works on real faces.
If someone tells you they’ve never had a bruise, swelling, asymmetry, or a “heavier” brow result, they’re not being honest they’re marketing.
The difference isn’t perfection. It’s how you assess, correct, and take responsibility when the human body does what it naturally does.
Bruising can happen with injectables. We’re human, and it comes with the territory, especially in delicate, highly vascular areas like around the eyes and lips. It’s a very common side effect of tox and any injectables and usually resolves within a few days to a week.
The face has a lot of blood vessels, so even with perfect technique, you can have a bruise one time and none the next. If you’ve never bruised after injections, consider yourself lucky!
A list that can increase bruising risk before injectables:
Supplements (big one people forget):
* Vitamin E
* Ginkgo biloba
* Garlic supplements
* Ginseng
* St. John’s Wort
* Omega-3 / fish oil (you already listed this)
Medications:
* Aspirin
* Ibuprofen / NSAIDs (Advil, Motrin, Aleve)
* Prescription blood thinners (like warfarin, Eliquis, Xarelto.
Lifestyle factors:
* Alcohol within 24–72 hours (can significantly thin blood + dehydrate tissues)
* Intense workouts right before or after treatment (increases blood flow/vascularity)
* Lack of sleep (can increase inflammation and vascular fragility)
* Dehydration
Physiologic/hormonal:
* Menstrual cycle (especially days leading up to and during)
* Naturally thin or sensitive skin (some people just bruise easier genetically)
Topical factors:
* Retinoids (if used aggressively—can thin the epidermis slightly over time)
* Recent chemical peels, lasers, or aggressive exfoliation in the area
Patients with impaired coagulation, systemic illness, or severely photoaged skin (Sun damage) are at higher risk for bruising, hematoma formation, and prolonged discoloration, even with optimal technique.
