We honor the strength, courage, and dedication of our women Veterans. Your sacrifices and service inspire us all.

Yesterday on Women Veterans Recognition Day, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that between May 2023 and May 2024, over 53,000 women Veterans enrolled in VA health care – a 20% increase and the largest enrollment year on record!

This historic achievement is driven by the PACT Act, signed into law by President Biden in 2022, empowering the VA to deliver record health care and benefits.

To learn more and apply, please visit VA.gov/PACT or call 1-800-MYVA411 (800-698-2411).

Need help navigating services? Call or text the Women Veterans Call Center at 855-VA-WOMEN (855-829-6636).

We've been working on cleaning up the site, and securing some buildings the last few months. We got a free wood chip drop last week and I spent some time spreading chips over the last couple of days. The view of the mountain has been stunning! It's starting to look like a place we can take some pride in!

We're recruiting more local board members. We specifically need a good Treasurer, our current one(me) is not the one for the position. If you would like to volunteer, or know someone who might, please let us know. Thank you!

We are honored to be partnering with Conservation NW on a Wildlife Connectivity project. We are working toward getting a wildlife crossing put in on I-5 to reconnect the wildlife migration corridor between the Cascade region wildlife and the Olympic Peninsula wildlife that has been disconnected by the interstate. VETC is a very viable location for a crossing. We're currently monitoring the wildlife on site to study where best to put the crossing. We hosted a Conservation NW Wildlife Connectivity Community Workshop over Veterans Day weekend, it was a beautiful day, the instruction was awesome and we had a great turnout.

New lifetime pass available for Military Veterans and Gold Star Families to access public lands - Pass provides free entrance to national parks, wildlife refuges and other public lands

Starting on Veterans Day (Nov. 11), veterans of the U.S. Armed Services and Gold Star Families can obtain a free lifetime pass to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites spread out across more than 400 million acres of public lands, including national parks, wildlife refuges, and forests.

“Our national forests and grasslands represent so much of the beauty of the nation our brave service members have sacrificed so much for,” said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. “Though they can never be fully repaid, by connecting the families of the fallen and those who served with these iconic places, we can, in a small way, say thank you.”

“This pass conveys our immense gratitude and respect for those who have given so much,” said National Park Service Director Chuck Sams. “As a veteran, I know firsthand the many sacrifices that members of the Armed Forces and their families have made in service to our country, and I am thrilled that Gold Star Families and military veterans can now enjoy lifetime access to national parks and other public lands.”

Each lifetime pass covers entrance fees for a driver and all passengers in a personal vehicle (or passholder and up to three adults at sites that charge per person) at national parks and national wildlife refuges, as well as standard amenity fees at national forests and grasslands, and at lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Veterans can present one of the four forms of acceptable ID (Department of Defense ID Card, Veteran Health ID (VHIC), Veteran ID Card, or veteran’s designation on a state-issued US driver’s license or ID card) at participating federal recreation areas that normally charge an entrance fee. Gold Star Families obtain information, self-certify they qualify and download a voucher on NPS.gov.

We are honored to have Beau on our board and as a partner!

We are honored to have Beau on our board and as a partner!

As we honor military veterans this week, we want to recognize GRuB's Community Food Solutions Manager, Beau Gromley. Beau is a veteran of both the US Marines and US Army and is passionate about helping veterans and their families transition back home.

When we think of Beau, we think of red alder, a plant which embodies community building. Alder helps rebuild soil, and creates a forest home where plants and animals can thrive. Likewise, Beau seeks to develop partnerships and resources that build a network of veteran-centric spaces for deepening relationships with land and community. With Beau's insights and initiative, we're pleased to unfold our new Healing through Hives programming over the coming years.

Thank you, Beau, for your dedication, attention to relationships, and leadership in the farmer-veteran community!
