Jeff brings something to Red River Health that cannot be taught, and that is perspective. After serving in the United States Marine Corps and traveling to 26 countries, he began his nursing career at age 48, and his patients benefit from that lifetime of experience every day.

As Compliance Manager, Jeff helps make sure every step of your infusion experience meets the highest standards. He works quietly behind the scenes with the same care he would want for his own family, which includes his wife, four children, and eight grandchildren back home in Rodessa, Louisiana, along with Molly, his mini Australian shepherd.

When you ask Jeff what makes the work worth it, he will tell you it is the patients. In his own words, “It is very rewarding to know you are helping someone feel better. That is always the goal.”

The advice he wishes every patient would take is simple. “Take an active role in your healthcare. No one knows your body better than you, so pay attention to what it is telling you.”

Today is World Autoimmune & Autoinflammatory Arthritis Day.

More than 100 conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, lupus, and juvenile idiopathic arthritis, fall under the autoimmune and autoinflammatory arthritis umbrella. They’re often invisible from the outside, and they affect adults and children alike.

May is Osteoporosis Awareness & Prevention Month.

More than 10 million Americans are living with osteoporosis, and another 44 million have low bone density that puts them at higher risk for fractures. The tricky part: there are usually no warning signs until a bone breaks.

The good news is that osteoporosis is treatable, and often preventable. Weight-bearing exercise, calcium and vitamin D, fall-prevention at home, and the right medications can all help protect your bones.

At Red River Health, we administer infusion and injection therapies for osteoporosis, including Prolia® (denosumab), Evenity® (romosozumab-aqqg), and Reclast® (zoledronic acid), in our comfortable infusion suites, with reclining chairs, audio/video streaming, and a snack bar to make every visit a little easier.

Meet Jennifer Markham, RN, our VP of Infusion Operations and a long-time member of the Red River family.

Jennifer earned her ADN in 2001 and holds an RN Multistate License. She’s an active member of the Infusion Nurses Society (INS) and the National Home Infusion Association (NHIA), with a clinical heart for home infusion.

Jennifer has been part of Red River Pharmacy for years, and opening an infusion clinic was always a shared dream. “Offering this service to our community as another option to receive their infusions in a clinic setting, when they are not a candidate for home infusion, allows us to meet our patients’ needs right where they are. It has been my pleasure to partner with this amazing team and to see it come to fruition.”

What she loves most about caring for patients: “We gain the trust of our patients and provide them with a safe, welcoming environment. If only for a brief moment, we have the opportunity to help shoulder their burden and take a few steps with them on their journey.”

Her wish for every patient: “Don’t wait to take care of yourself, and don’t be afraid to ask for a second opinion. There will never be another you.”

🩺 Beyond the chair: Jennifer lives in Texarkana with her husband David and their three children, Kollin, Taylor, and Reagen, plus Gracie, their basset hound. In 2011, she and David founded Truth Infusion Ministries, where they spread the message of their faith alongside a wonderful group of friends and ministers. When she’s not working, you’ll find her with family, friends, or pouring into ministry work.

May is Lupus Awareness Month. 💜

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks healthy tissue, most often the joints, skin, kidneys, blood, and heart. It affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans, and the symptoms can look different from one person to the next, which is part of what makes lupus so challenging to diagnose and to live with.

There is no cure yet, but treatment options have come a long way. At Red River Health, we offer infusion therapies prescribed for lupus, including Benlysta® (belimumab) and Saphnelo® (anifrolumab-fnia), in a comfortable, private setting close to home.

Today is National Nurses Day and at Red River Health, every day starts and ends with our nurses.

From the first warm welcome at the door, to the careful start of every infusion, to the extra moment spent making sure a patient feels safe, supported, and not alone, our nurses are the heart of this center.

Immune deficiencies occur when the body’s immune system does not function properly, making it harder to fight off infections. For some patients, this means frequent or severe infections that take longer to recover from.
