❄️🧊Mythbusting Monday🩵❄️ and Teaching Tuesday with WYO CRYO 🧊🧊

🐴❄️ Myth: My horse isn’t showing any signs of inflammation… cryotherapy won’t help them.

The Lesson: It will help more than you know! Eventing horses (cutters, reiners, barrel racers, ropers, racers, etc.) can greatly benefit from simple sessions of cryotherapy. 🧊❄️

❄️🐴🧊 One example….🧊🐴❄️

🧊Reiners & Cutters: Sliding Stops, Spins & Collection Stress🧊

Reining horses repeatedly perform:

Sliding stops•Spins•Rollbacks• Collected frame work•Quick short actions

📍Primary tension zones:

Hocks & Stifles
Stop mechanics place major load on:

Hocks•Stifles•Hind limb support structures •SI Region & Lumbar Spine
Collection + deceleration often creates:

📌Pelvic tension
📌Lumbar stiffness
📌Lower back fatigue
📌Neck & Poll

🔺Postural demands may contribute to:

📌Neck restriction
📌Poll tightness
📌Upper topline tension

The fact is….Reiners commonly hold tension through hind-end mechanics, pelvic loading, and collected posture systems. And cutters commonly hold tension more in the forelimb mechanics.

🧊❄️ Cryotherapy after a competition is beneficial by reducing tension, stress and tightness in their muscles and tendons. It’s a great way to help them relax and increase blood flow back to those areas holding the tension and stress so they’re more relaxed after performing their best for you.

Photo Friday with WyoCryo!
For those of you that don’t know me…HEY!! My name is Angela and this is my family. My husband Justin and our son Jay. We live in central Wyoming.
I started looking into cryotherapy for Jays roping horse, Stacks who’s 21. He has an aggravated navicular bone and I wanted to find something to help ease the pain he could be feeling from traveling and roping. Stacks loves his sessions! With laser targeted cold therapy, I can reduce his pain and any swelling or inflammation he may have. It has become a part of our maintenance routine with him after roping practice or competition.

💬🤔Thoughtful 🧐 Thursday with WyoCryo!

One of the questions I get asked is “does it hurt?”

❄️The simple answer…. No! With my laser targeted device, I can work on one area at a time. It is cold… yes. But there shouldn’t ever be pain.
🩵But I always communicate with my clients so they are comfortable.

🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏼‍♂️Have a question? Drop it below ⬇️ and I’ll answer it next Thursday!

🐴❄️Why Cryo Wednesday!❄️🐴

Why use cold therapy after competition?

Your horse just gave you everything in the arena….rather it’s roping, barrel racing, cutting, reining, etc.

🧊Now comes recovery. 🧊

Cold therapy has long been used in equine sports medicine as part of post-exercise recovery, particularly for the limbs.
The goal isn’t to replace proper cooldown, hydration, nutrition, rest, veterinary care, or conditioning.

It’s another tool in the toolbox.😎

What discipline are you into?

Teaching Tuesday!!

Does fitness level change how effective cold therapy is? The short answer…YES!

Fitness level influences the vasomotor response — trained athletes tend to have more efficient and responsive peripheral circulation, which can produce a stronger rebound effect after cold exposure.
This does not make cold therapy less effective for less-trained individuals; it means the response may look different and the protocol should be calibrated accordingly.
Starting conservatively and observing the individual's response over several sessions gives the clearest picture of how their body is adapting.

Justin had been roping and said he thought Ringo needed some Cryo when he got back. Ringo had a wind puff and a scrape on his back leg. Justin Ritchey
