❄️🧊Mythbusting Monday🩵❄️ and Teaching Tuesday with WYO CRYO 🧊🧊
🐴❄️ Myth: My horse isn’t showing any signs of inflammation… cryotherapy won’t help them.
The Lesson: It will help more than you know! Eventing horses (cutters, reiners, barrel racers, ropers, racers, etc.) can greatly benefit from simple sessions of cryotherapy. 🧊❄️
❄️🐴🧊 One example….🧊🐴❄️
🧊Reiners & Cutters: Sliding Stops, Spins & Collection Stress🧊
Reining horses repeatedly perform:
Sliding stops•Spins•Rollbacks• Collected frame work•Quick short actions
📍Primary tension zones:
Hocks & Stifles
Stop mechanics place major load on:
Hocks•Stifles•Hind limb support structures •SI Region & Lumbar Spine
Collection + deceleration often creates:
📌Pelvic tension
📌Lumbar stiffness
📌Lower back fatigue
📌Neck & Poll
🔺Postural demands may contribute to:
📌Neck restriction
📌Poll tightness
📌Upper topline tension
The fact is….Reiners commonly hold tension through hind-end mechanics, pelvic loading, and collected posture systems. And cutters commonly hold tension more in the forelimb mechanics.
🧊❄️ Cryotherapy after a competition is beneficial by reducing tension, stress and tightness in their muscles and tendons. It’s a great way to help them relax and increase blood flow back to those areas holding the tension and stress so they’re more relaxed after performing their best for you.
