🐝🚁 ONE YEAR OF THE HIVE 🚁🐝

One year ago, Air Evac 185 opened its doors with a new aircraft, a new crews and a shared purpose. Somewhere along the way, we became more than a base, we became The Hive.

What a year it has been!!

We’ve flown patients, trained relentlessly, celebrated first flights, welcomed new faces, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with some incredible EMS, fire, law enforcement, 911, hospital, and community partners.

But our greatest accomplishment isn’t measured in flights or numbers. It’s the relationships we’ve built.

Coworkers became friends. Friends became family. Community partners became part of our Hive.

To everyone who has trusted us, trained with us, laughed with us, supported us, and welcomed us into your communities, thank you for making our first year unforgettable.

‼️ Please leave us a comment of your favorite memories from this past year involving us at the Hive. We would love to hear from you. ‼️

🐝 One year down. Countless memories. One incredible Hive.

Pardon the photo dump, but here’s a few pictures that takes us down memory laneπŸ˜‰πŸ

🐝🩸 THE TRAINING NEVER STOPS AT THE HIVE 🚁

As much as we like to have fun, when it comes to patient care, The Hive stays sharp.

This months training, conducted by the infamous Emily Baldridge BCL extraordinaire, focused on blood products, blood administration case reviews, and advanced blood warming techniques, continuing to refine the skills that matter when seconds count.

We train. We review. We improve. Because our communities deserve nothing less than our best.

Have fun. Train hard. Stay ready. 🐝🚁🩸

🐝🚁 Community in Action. Patient at the Center.

AE 185, The Hive, recently responded to Butts County for an emergent scene flight. A big shout out to Butts County Fire & EMS for amazing patient care.

From the moment we arrived, it was one team with one focus: do what’s best for the patient. Seamless communication and teamwork allowed ground and flight crews to work side-by-side to quickly transition the patient to the next level of care.

These moments are a reminder that emergency medicine isn’t about patches, uniforms, or agenciesβ€”it’s about communities coming together when someone needs us most.

Thank you to Butts County Fire & EMS for the outstanding teamwork and partnership.

πŸπŸ’› CONGRATULATIONS πŸ’›πŸ

Please join us in congratulating our Program Manager, Olivia Blevins, on 5 incredible years with Air Evac Lifeteam! 🚁

Starting out her career as a Flight Paramedic with Air Evac Olivia, over some time, moved into the position as the Hive’s Program Manager last year. Olivia is so much more than our Program Manager, she is the heart of our Hive. Her leadership, passion, relentless drive, and genuine love for her people have helped shape AE 185 into the family we are today.

She challenges us to be better, celebrates our victories, stands beside us through the hard days, and never loses sight of why we’re here: our patients, our community, and each other.

Olivia, we love you, we appreciate you, and we are incredibly proud to call you our Queen Bee. πŸ‘‘πŸ

🐝🚁 Roots, Wings & Rotor Blades! 🚁🐝

The Hive had an awesome time welcoming Roots & Wings Homeschool Co-op for a visit from AE 185!

From touring the helicopter to checking out the equipment and firing off some seriously great questions, these kids brought plenty of curiosity, enthusiasm, and energy. We might have even spotted a few future pilots, nurses, and paramedics in the group! 🚁🩺

It’s always a privilege to spend time with the families who make up our community and share a little bit about what we do and why we love doing it.

Thank you, Roots & Wings, for buzzing by The Hive! Keep asking questions, keep exploring, and never stop chasing those wings. πŸπŸ’›

Strong roots help you grow. Strong wings help you fly. Keeping it strong within the community. That’s what we are all about.

🐝🚁 MEET THE MED CREW MONDAY🚁🐝

πŸ₯³Meet Kenneth Autry πŸšπŸ’¨

This Monday, we’re turning the spotlight on one of The Hive’s OGs, Flight Nurse Kenneth Autry. Lord knows he hates bringing light of himself, but here we go.

Kenneth’s journey into flight medicine started long before he ever climbed into the back of an Air Evac aircraft. He spent 10 years as an Army medic before transitioning to the U.S. Air Force, where he continues to serve as a Critical Care Air Transport Team (CCATT) nurse.

His civilian nursing career began in the Emergency Department at Southern Regional Medical Center, followed by time at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where he intentionally built his pediatric experience with one goal already in mind, becoming a flight nurse. He later returned to Southern Regional for a stint in the Cardiac Cath Lab, adding another layer of critical-care experience to his toolbox.

In 2008, Kenneth took to the skies in fixed-wing critical care transport, beginning what would become an incredible career in flight medicine. Those years brought countless flights, unforgettable adventures, and experience caring for some of the sickest and most critically injured patients.

Then, in 2017, he found his way to Air Evac Lifeteam. Starting out at AE 86 in Cordele Ga., he help transition the base from Cordele to Americus Ga., where it currently resides. Years later, Kenneth transferred to AE 153 in Fayetteville Ga. and was a key member on establishing this base. After 5 years of growing 153, a new calling arose and in Sept of 2025, Kenneth transferred to AE 185 β€œThe Hive” to help stand up his 3rd base.

But if you know Kenneth, you know his impact doesn’t stop when the blades quit turning.

He’s also the face behind much of The Hive’s public relations and community outreach. Whether it’s landing-zone education, community events, first-responder partnerships, hospital relationships, social media, or finding another reason to get The Hive out into the community. If it involves outreach, Kenneth probably has his hands on it.

Nearly a decade later, Kenneth is still flying, now proudly serving at AE 185, β€œThe Hive,” He serves as a preceptor, mentor and the bases community outreach coordinator. Where he was one of the original crew members who helped open the base, Kenneth, over the years, has had the privilege of touching countless lives, both inside the aircraft and throughout the communities we serve.

There have been different uniforms, different aircraft, different partners, and different chapters.

But the reason behind all of it has never really changed.

Show up. Take care of people. Love your team. Serve your community. And when someone is having the worst day of their life, do everything in your power to make sure they don’t face it alone.

Almost two decades in flight medicine, and this Bee still isn’t ready to hang up his wings. So if you see Kenneth out and about, make sure you say hello.🐝🚁

🐝🌲 Survival Mode: HIVE ACTIVATED πŸ”₯🚁

Being prepared doesn’t stop when the weather turns bad or the comforts of home disappear. This week, The Hive took training into the wilderness for survival and inclement-weather preparedness.

The crew worked through some essential survival skills:
πŸ’§ Proper hydration and filtration techniques
πŸ•οΈ Shelter construction
πŸ”₯ Fire starting
πŸ₯˜ MRE preparation
🌧️ Staying prepared when conditions are less than ideal

Training like this keeps our crews ready for the unexpectedβ€”because in our line of work, preparation matters both in the aircraft and on the ground.

And while everyone learned something… it became pretty clear that some members of The Hive took to wilderness living a little more naturally than others. πŸ˜‚πŸ

No Wi-Fi. No thermostat. Just bees, MREs, and questionable shelter-building skills.

Stay ready. Stay prepared. Stay HIVE strong. 🐝πŸ”₯🚁
