There’s a meaningful difference between adding years to your life and preserving the health and function within those years. Healthspan medicine focuses on the metabolic, hormonal, cardiovascular, and body-composition factors that influence how you age—and on identifying meaningful changes early, when there may be greater opportunity to improve the trajectory.

Longevity is everywhere right now—and much of it is oversold. At Metriq Health, we take a more disciplined approach: physician-led healthspan medicine grounded in evidence, meaningful measurement, and individualized care rather than hype. Metriq Health is a physician-led precision medicine practice serving Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, the Conejo Valley, and the greater Los Angeles region.

We combine in-depth clinical evaluation, targeted biomarker testing, functional medicine-informed assessment, individualized care planning, and longitudinal follow-up to help patients better understand their health and make informed, evidence-based decisions.

Precision medicine does not mean testing everything or treating every abnormal value. It means selecting the right data, interpreting it in context, and tailoring care to the individual.

A biomarker can identify a signal. It cannot, by itself, explain the cause, define health, or determine the right treatment.

Clinical decisions require context: symptoms, medical and family history, medications, physical findings, individual risk, patient priorities, and the best available evidence.

Biomarkers inform clinical judgment. They do not replace it.

That is the difference between ordering a test and understanding a patient.

More testing is not always better. Better testing is targeted, validated, and interpreted in context.

An integrated hormone and cardiovascular evaluation may include symptom-directed hormone and thyroid testing, glucose and hemoglobin A1c, a lipid profile, blood pressure, and selected risk-refining measures such as Lp(a), apoB, or high-sensitivity CRP.

Biomarkers do not speak for themselves. Their value comes from selecting the right measures and interpreting them alongside symptoms, medications, sleep, lifestyle, and personal and family history.

That is the difference between collecting data and developing a meaningful clinical picture.

Hormonal, metabolic, and cardiovascular health are distinct—but interconnected.

At Metriq Health, functional medicine-informed care serves as a complementary lens within physician-led precision medicine. We consider sleep, nutrition, stress, medications, body composition, and metabolic health alongside established diagnostics and current scientific evidence.

The goal is not to force every finding into a single “root cause.” It is to identify potentially modifiable contributors, develop a more complete clinical picture, and support better-informed decisions.

Hormones and cardiovascular health intersect—but not through a single pathway.

Changes in estrogen during the menopause transition can coincide with shifts in cholesterol, blood pressure, body composition, and vascular function. Thyroid dysfunction can affect heart rate, rhythm, cholesterol, and blood pressure. Insulin resistance directly increases cardiometabolic risk, while testosterone’s relationship with metabolic and cardiovascular health is more complex.

These connections do not mean every abnormal hormone result requires treatment. They mean hormone findings should be interpreted alongside symptoms, blood pressure, lipids, glucose metabolism, medications, sleep, and family history—not in isolation.

Hormone health and cardiovascular health intersect—but not through a single pathway.

The menopause transition can coincide with changes in cholesterol, blood pressure, body composition, and vascular function. Thyroid dysfunction can affect heart rate, rhythm, blood pressure, and cholesterol. Insulin resistance is a major cardiometabolic risk factor, while stress and disrupted sleep can further influence cardiovascular health.

A hormone result alone cannot define cardiovascular risk, and hormone therapy is not a substitute for evidence-based prevention. A rigorous evaluation considers these findings alongside blood pressure, lipids, glucose metabolism, medications, sleep, and family history.

Persistent symptoms deserve thoughtful evaluation—not an automatic prescription.

Metriq Health serves men throughout Greater Los Angeles and the Conejo Valley with physician-led evaluation of symptoms, laboratory findings, and the factors that may be contributing to both.

An initial consultation is not a commitment to testosterone treatment. It is an opportunity to determine whether testing is appropriate, what the results actually mean, and which next step is supported by the evidence.

A functional medicine-informed approach should do more than say that everything is connected. It should determine which connections are clinically relevant and supported by evidence.

Sleep apnea, body composition, metabolic health, illness, nutrition, alcohol, and medications can influence testosterone levels or produce similar symptoms.

At Metriq, this lens complements our physician-led precision medicine model. We confirm the abnormality, distinguish testicular or pituitary disease from potentially reversible functional changes, and focus on the contributors most likely to matter.

The goal is not more testing. It is better interpretation.
