On World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, we're highlighting the important role hospice and palliative care play in helping patients and families navigate serious illness.

Both hospice and palliative care focus on comfort, quality of life and support, helping patients receive care that aligns with their goals and wishes. Palliative care can begin at diagnosis and alongside treatment. Hospice care is typically chosen when treatment is no longer working or a patient decides to stop curative treatment for a terminal illness, shifting the focus to comfort, quality of life and support for both the patient and their loved ones.

As part of the program, we are looking to recruit a Veteran Volunteer.
The Veteran Volunteer would participate in We Honor Veteran's pinning ceremonies. This takes place when a Veteran is admitted onto our services.
The Veteran Volunteer would also make occasional visits to Veteran patients who are in need of support from a fellow Veteran.

We love our Veteran's and it would be an honor to have a Veteran Volunteer as a part of our amazing team.

Please do not hesitate to contact if you have any questions.

Amedisys Hospice is currently looking for volunteers to fill 2 roles.

1. Weekly Tuck In Calls - This consists of coming into the office one day a week and placing phone calls to our patient's caregivers to check for any patient needs or concerns, then relaying the message to our Volunteer Coordinator.

2. Caregiver Respite - This consists of sitting with a patient for a few hours to allow the patient's caregiver to go doctor's appointments, run errands or get rest. There is no hands on care provided to the patient. This would be strictly sitting with the patient and providing socialization, playing games, or keeping an eye on them while they rest until the caregiver gets back.

Are you retired and looking for something to do in your spare time? This would be a great opportunity!
High school and college students are welcome, also. You must be at least 16, with parental consent, in order to volunteer. Volunteer work looks great on a college application.

You must be able to pass a background check.

For more information, or to apply, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Brandy Davenport.

Join us congratulating Shannon Payne on her new role as Business Office Specialist.

Shannon has been with Amedisys for 4 years as one of our Home Health Aides. When given the opportunity, she decided she needed to take a step back from providing CNA work. It was not an easy decision for Shannon, but she knew it was the right decision. Though she misses the one-on-one care, she is happy with her new role and still gets to provide behind the scenes assistant to patients and their families.

Shannon, we are so happy to have you as our new BOS. You came into this new role wide open and have learned a lot in a short amount of time. We are so thankful for all your continued hard work.
