🌱 A Beautiful Evening in Englewood 🌱
This post is a little late, but the impact of this moment was too meaningful not to share.
This past Thursday, I had the pleasure of hosting a Gardens 101 workshop in the Englewood neighborhood in collaboration with . Together we gathered with neighbors, families, and community members to talk about something simple but powerful… growing our own food and reconnecting with the soil.
What made this evening especially meaningful for me is that my own family has deep roots in the Englewood neighborhood. Being able to return and pour into a community that helped shape so many stories and families is something I do not take lightly.
We talked about:
🌿 Kitchen gardens and herbs
🌿 Simple ways to start growing vegetables
🌿 Soil basics and garden planning
🌿 How gardening supports health, wellness, and community
It was also wonderful connecting with other neighborhood coalitions doing important work in the community, including the Junction Coalition and the Lincoln Coalition. Seeing so many groups committed to strengthening and uplifting the Englewood neighborhood made the evening even more meaningful.
But beyond the gardening lessons, what I truly saw was hope, curiosity, and excitement about the future of this neighborhood.
Communities grow stronger when people come together to learn, share, and invest in one another. I am grateful to Hope Connections Toledo for the opportunity to partner in this work and look forward to continuing to support the growth happening in Englewood.
Because when we sow knowledge, encouragement, and opportunity… we reap stronger communities. 🌱
