The Shawnee County LHEAT (Local Health Equity Action Team) is proud to support our community!❤️

Recently, we provided a washer and dryer to Oxford's woman's house, and it's been amazing to see the impact it's had on the residents.

Having access to these essential appliances has not only saved them time and money but has also brought them a sense of dignity and independence.

At Shawnee County LHEAT, we believe that everyone deserves a safe and supportive environment to thrive. We're honored to be a part of their journey towards stability and self-sufficiency.

The Shawnee County LHEAT is a HUGE fan of Early Childhood Literacy which is why we were excited to support Patterson Family Child Care Center with the resources to build Literacy bags for the children in their care.

Melissa Patterson, Owner and Operator shared that once a month a book goes home with their daycare friends, and parents can check out literacy bags with age appropriate activities for them to do with their children at home.

Cheers to the team at Patterson Family Child Care Center for creating high-quality and easily accessible literary resources that are not only engaging, but that foster a love for reading, learning and fun!

The Shawnee County LHEAT is thrilled to share the success of our 12-week Financial Literacy program, made possible through our partnership with Fatima Luthi-Perez, Founder and CEO of The Grind Coaching & Consulting. Fatima's expert guidance and dedication empowered our community members with the tools and knowledge to transform their financial lives.

What started as a group of strangers, quickly evolved into a supportive community of friends, who shared goal of financial health. Participants showed up on Saturdays eager to learn and invest in themselves. Class participants would often hang back to encourage, lead, and support each other.

The Shawnee County LHEAT is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Fatima and The Grind Coaching and Consulting. We look forward to future partnerships, aimed at improving the financial health and well-being of our community.

As the program came to a close, participants left with a newfound sense of confidence, equipped to navigate their financial journeys and inspire others to do the same. We are proud to have been a part of this transformative experience and look forward to witnessing the ripple effect of positive change in our community.

Thank you also to Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library for providing our gathering space that helped set the stage for success.

That made backpacks and they turned out so cute!! 🎒

Programs like the Kansas Education Enrichment Program (KEEP) are a GREAT way to get your youth involved in extracurricular activities, such as this class!
