“Eden is exactly the person you want nearby when you are in the hospital.”
That’s how one grateful patient described volunteer es**rt Eden Winburn after she helped guide her through the hospital during a stressful moment.

With calm reassurance, kindness and compassion, Eden took the time to help Mrs. Kramer navigate the hospital, offering not only directions but comfort and connection when it mattered most.
“She truly is kind and compassionate… she was in the right place at the right time with a smile.”

Thank you, Eden, for showing what The Reason is You is all about and for making a difference through every interaction.

The Reason is You award is Sponsored by the Torrance Memorial Foundation's Young Physicians and Professionals Alliance (YPPA) and recognizes those who provide the very best patient experience through their extraordinary and compassionate communication, behavior or teamwork.

Prostate cancer screening recommendations have evolved. Rather than routine testing for everyone, today’s approach focuses on shared decision-making and individualized care. Understanding your risk factors and knowing when to start the conversation can help you make informed choices about your health.

In our latest blog, Dr. Brian Stone, MD, with the Torrance Memorial Physician Network breaks down this new, customized approach and offers guidance.

CPR guidance has been updated—and the changes are designed to make it easier for anyone to act in an emergency.

The latest American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines emphasize clearer steps, faster recognition of emergencies, and simplified actions for bystanders. That matters, because in a cardiac emergency, every second counts.

Check below for what’s new—and what still saves lives.

At Torrance Memorial Medical Center, we’re committed to helping our community feel confident stepping in when it matters most. We offer Infant Child CPR classes, with discounted rates available to parents of Torrance Memorial NICU babies. Sign up at https://bit.ly/4nSJXDL Our next Class is June 6.

At Torrance Memorial Medical Center, compassion shows up in every shift, every patient interaction, and every moment of care.

We are proud to recognize our latest Reason Is You Award honoree: the TCU Department team.

A grateful patient shared heartfelt thanks for the entire staff—nurses, aides, physical therapists, and occupational therapists—highlighting the kindness, patience, and dedication that helped them feel safe, supported, and cared for throughout their recovery. Their words reflect what this team delivers every day: care that restores not only health, but hope.

This recognition is a reminder that healing is a team effort, and TCU exemplifies what it means to serve with heart.

Congratulations to the entire TCU Department team at Torrance Memorial Medical Center on this well-deserved honor.

The Reason is You award is Sponsored by the Torrance Memorial Foundation's Young Physicians and Professionals Alliance (YPPA) to recognize those who provide the very best patient experience through their extraordinary and compassionate communication, behavior or teamwork.
