Cold, rainy Sunday mornings call for homemade masala chai. ☕️

It takes me back to childhood mornings in India—when the kitchen would fill with the aroma of fresh ginger, cardamom and warming spices, and a hot cup of chai made the whole house feel cozy.

One of my favorite ways to slow down and enjoy a Sunday morning.

What’s in your perfect cup of chai?

It’s been a minute since I shared a recipe here! 🥗

This is exactly the kind of meal I love: easy, colorful, satisfying and full of flavor.

This one-bowl quinoa salad comes together with chickpeas, lots of crunchy veggies and fresh herbs. Simple ingredients, minimal fuss, and a delicious combination of plant protein + fiber.

Perfect for lunch, dinner, meal prep or sharing with friends. And yes, it all comes together in ONE bowl 🙌🏽

Want the recipe? Comment QUINOA and I’ll share it!

Still thinking about the energy, learning and connections at !

From inspiring sessions and exploring what’s new in diabetes care to recording two live podcast episodes, filming with ADCES and connecting with colleagues and friends, there were so many memorable moments.

Couldn’t join us in Columbus? The learning continues! ADCES26 On-Demand begins August 24, with access to 44 expert-led sessions and up to 31.25 CE/CME.

Because advancing diabetes care doesn’t stop when the conference ends.

Sponsored trip | M2 Ingredients 🍄

A little overdue, but this experience was too interesting (and too much fun!) not to share.

I had the opportunity to attend ’Shroom School with M2 Ingredients and get a behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating world of functional mushrooms, from the mushroom life cycle and growing process to research, production and more.

One of my favorite things about being a dietitian is that there is always more to learn. I loved being able to ask questions, dig into the science and experience it alongside such a wonderful group of dietitian colleagues.

And yes, mushroom hats were part of the curriculum. 🍄

Thank you M2 Ingredients for the invitation, hospitality and such a memorable learning experience!

More than 30 years later, I still look forward to a new Academy membership year.

Not because I need more on my calendar.

But because every year brings new opportunities to learn, lead, connect, and give back to a profession I love.

Over the years, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics has connected me with mentors, colleagues, lifelong friends, leadership opportunities, speaking engagements, and experiences I never could have imagined when I first joined.

Some of my most meaningful professional experiences have come through serving in Dietetic Practice Groups and Member Interest Groups. Through the Diabetes Dietetic Practice Group , Indians in Nutrition and Dietetics MIG, Dietitians in Business and Communication (DBC) DPG, and other Academy communities, I’ve had the privilege of learning from incredible colleagues, contributing to the profession, mentoring others, and continuing to grow as a leader.

As someone who has spent nearly three decades as a dietitian, I still find tremendous value in staying involved. Every conference, committee, webinar, leadership role, and conversation reminds me that none of us grows in isolation.

For me, Academy membership has never just been about benefits.

It’s about community.

It’s about service.

It’s about belonging to a profession that continues to inspire me.

As we begin a new membership year tomorrow, I’m grateful for the opportunities, friendships, and experiences the Academy has brought into my life, and excited for what lies ahead.

If you’re a dietitian or dietetics student who has been thinking about getting more involved, consider this your sign. Your professional community is waiting for you.

Today I’m thinking about my mom and missing her deeply. So much of who I am was shaped by her love, strength, warmth, and generosity. Even though she is no longer here physically, her presence continues to guide me every day. 🤍

I’m also feeling thankful for the many women who nurture and support us… moms, grandmothers, aunts, teachers, mentors, and mother figures who leave a lasting impact on our lives.

And one of my greatest blessings is being a mom to my two sons and now officially welcoming Bella into our family. Watching my family grow has been one of life’s greatest gifts.

Sending love today to anyone celebrating, remembering, or missing someone they love this Mother’s Day. 🤍

One year ago, travel felt hard and her A1c was 8.8%. Today, she’s thriving.

When we first started working together, she felt overwhelmed, frustrated, and discouraged.

Today her A1c is 5.8%, she has lost 40+ pounds, reduced blood pressure medication, feels stronger, and is excited for an upcoming international trip.

The biggest win is not just the numbers. It’s how she feels now: more confident, more capable, and back to enjoying her life.

No extremes. No perfection. Just small changes, steady progress, and support that fit her real life.

I’m so proud of her.

If you’re ready for your own next chapter, I’d love to help.

Nutrition advice is everywhere.

But knowing what actually applies to you, your culture, your schedule, your health goals? That’s where things get complicated.

This is the work I do every day.

As a dietitian and diabetes specialist, I work with high-performing professionals navigating blood sugar, energy, and long-term health in the context of full, demanding lives. Not a perfect plan, but one that’s practical, sustainable, and still enjoyable.

That work extends beyond the one-on-one.

I’m speaking, contributing to media conversations, and partnering with organizations to bring clear, evidence-based, culturally relevant nutrition into spaces where nuance is often missing.

The goal is the same.
Bring clarity to the noise and turn it into strategies that fit real life.

This is my seat at the table.

Honored to be included in Feedspot’s Top 40 Registered Dietitian Blogs to Follow in 2026.

I’ve always believed good nutrition guidance should do two things.
Be grounded in evidence and actually work in real life.

Especially for those navigating diabetes and metabolic health, where there’s so much noise and confusion.

My focus has been on simplifying that.
Making it practical, culturally relevant, and sustainable, without losing the joy of food.

Grateful to continue doing this work in a way that truly supports meaningful, lasting change.
