Considering a move from private practice to federal healthcare?

The transition may be more familiar than you think.

Your clinical expertise, patient care skills, and commitment to helping others remain at the center of the work. What changes is the environment: one where your efforts directly support service members, veterans, and military families.

Many healthcare professionals are drawn to federal healthcare because it offers the opportunity to focus on what matters most: delivering quality care while contributing to a mission larger than themselves.

At SHR, we connect clinicians with opportunities across military and federal healthcare settings where they can:

-Deliver meaningful, patient-centered care
-Support the health and readiness of those who serve
-Work alongside mission-driven healthcare teams
-Build rewarding careers while making a lasting impact

Every patient interaction matters. Every role supports the mission.

If you're exploring your next career move, let's connect.

Behind every warfighter is a care environment built on trust, teamwork, and operational readiness.

Not simply staffed.

Not simply maintained.

But intentionally built—through strong teams, supported clinicians, and a shared commitment to the mission.

As a 21-year veteran and Clinic Director at Dumfries Ambulatory Care Center, Mark Anderson understands what it takes to sustain that environment: community, collaboration, and operational excellence that ensure patients receive the care they deserve while advancing force readiness.

In military and federal healthcare, readiness is never isolated to the front lines. It is strengthened every day by the teams who support healthcare professionals, reinforce clinical operations, and elevate patient outcomes across the continuum of care.

That is where we make an impact.

We build resilient teams. We support those who deliver care. We ensure every placement strengthens the mission it serves.

That is what operational readiness looks like in action.

This is how we deliver, with collaboration, commitment, and care.

Driven by Mission. Defined by Care.

This week, our team came together to participate in a virtual walk in support of PTSD Awareness Month, sharing photos from locations across the country as we stood alongside the military members, veterans, families, and caregivers impacted by post-traumatic stress. We’re honored to join the Wounded Warrior Project in helping raise awareness and support for those navigating the challenges of PTSD.

Moments like these are about more than participation—they’re about foster understanding, encouraging meaningful conversations, and demonstrating our commitment to the communities that serve. PTSD Awareness Month is an important reminder that support begins with awareness, and it must continue through education, advocacy, and action.

As a team, we are proud to walk together in recognition of those affected by PTSD and in support of the organizations working every day to provide resources, care, and hope.

Join us in supporting PTSD Awareness Month this June. Take a moment to learn more, share resources, or support organizations making a difference in mental health care for veterans and service members.

Learn more about the Wounded Warrior Project and explore ways to get involved, access support resources, and discover the impact they make for veterans and their families every day.

The results are in, and we couldn't be more proud. 🎖️

Several SHR providers have been recognized on JOES "Best of the Best" list through the Military Health System's Joint Outpatient Experience Survey, an achievement that reflects exceptional patient trust and satisfaction.

This recognition represents achieving 100% positive responses across key patient experience measures including patient trust and confidence in their provider. Within a healthcare system serving millions of beneficiaries and supported by more than 20,000 providers, results like these are truly remarkable.

Behind every score is something even more meaningful: strong patient relationships, compassionate care, and a commitment to delivering exceptional healthcare experiences every day. These outcomes are the result of dedicated teams working together to ensure continuity of care, support patient wellbeing, and strengthen mission readiness.

We're proud to recognize:
🏆 Specialty Clinic – Optometry | 100% patient satisfaction
🏆 Michael Armstrong, Physical Assistant, Specialty Provider | 100% patient satisfaction
🏆 Dr. Malik, Primary Care | 100% patient satisfaction

These achievements demonstrate what excellence looks like in practice—building trust one patient interaction at a time, creating positive healthcare experiences, and supporting the readiness of our military community.

To our ACC teams, thank you. You set this standard, and you sustain it. This level of patient trust doesn't happen without you.

Congratulations to all. 👏

“What can one person really do to make a difference?”

For one SHR team member, the answer starts with simply showing up.

During PTSD Awareness Month, we’re proud to recognize Haniya Arends, Operations Manager at SHR, whose independent volunteer work with the Wounded Warrior Project reflects a deep commitment to supporting Veterans, service members, and their families.

Her involvement began nearly eight years ago, inspired by the lasting impact of 9/11, meaningful relationships with Veterans, and witnessing firsthand the physical and emotional effects many service members carry long after returning home. Through fundraising events, volunteer initiatives, and community outreach efforts, she has dedicated her time to helping Veterans access critical resources, from mental health support and career transition services to programs that foster connection and purpose beyond military life.

One experience that especially stayed with her was meeting a military couple at a Wounded Warrior event, both Veterans who had experienced life-changing injuries during service, yet carried an incredible sense of gratitude, resilience, and hope. That experience became a powerful reminder that even small acts of support can leave a lasting impact.

As Haniya shared, “To somebody else, you might be the one change that impacts their life.”

At SHR, we understand that supporting the military community extends beyond healthcare staffing. It’s about people, purpose, and ensuring those who have served feel seen, valued, and supported. While Haniya’s work with the Wounded Warrior Project is a personal commitment, her story reflects the compassion, service, and dedication that continues to shape our culture every day.

This PTSD Awareness Month, we honor the resilience of Veterans and active-duty service members while recognizing the importance of mental health awareness, community support, and continued advocacy.

Behind every connection, conversation, and candidate experience is a recruiter pouring into people with care, encouragement, and consistency. ☕

This week, we celebrated Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day and recognized the individuals helping build and support care teams across the military and federal healthcare system. Through every interaction, our recruiters connect healthcare professionals to meaningful opportunities that strengthen mission readiness and support communities nationwide.

To celebrate, our recruitment team gathered virtually with their favorite mug in hand and reflected on the qualities recruiters pour into others every day — words like trust, advocacy, energy, empathy, and confidence.

Because recruiting is about far more than filling positions. It’s about building relationships, guiding people through important career moments, and supporting professionals who deliver care where it matters most.

Cheers to our amazing recruiters and the impact they make through every interaction! 🩵

Now we’d love to hear from you: What’s one word that describes a great recruiter?

As we celebrate Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day, we’re proud to spotlight Amanda Gbenro, a recruiter at SHR whose career began in education, where she spent 22 years building a foundation for helping others succeed. ⭐

Looking back, Amanda says the transition from educator to recruiter happened naturally. “One year, I helped five educators get hired based on my recommendations,” she shared, reflecting on how school leaders often turned to her for trusted referrals when staffing needs arose.

Amanda began her recruiting career in education before expanding into healthcare recruiting with encouragement from a mentor. Today at SHR, she continues to approach every interaction with honesty, support, and a genuine commitment to service.

For Amanda, recruiting is far more than filling positions. It’s about creating a thoughtful, transparent experience that helps candidates feel informed, valued, and supported throughout the process.

“I look at it as customer service,” she explained. “I’m providing information about the role and the company and walking them through the process so they can make the best decision for themselves.” She is known for her knowledge, patience, and genuine care in guiding candidates through each step of their journey.

Amanda also deeply values the culture she has found at SHR. “I find the community here to be very special. I really do look at it like family,” Amanda shared. “I’ve had such incredible support from the people here, and I don’t ever plan on leaving.”

Today, Amanda’s story reflects the dedication of recruiters across SHR who show up each day with compassion, expertise, and purpose — helping connect healthcare professionals to meaningful opportunities that support the mission.

Happy Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day to Amanda and to all our recruiters — thank you for the important role you play in supporting our mission at SHR.

“Hiring healthcare professionals committed to exceptional patient care is the most important responsibility we carry.”

As we recognize Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day, we’re taking a moment to celebrate the recruiters who make meaningful connections between mission and talent every day. ✨

Our VP of Operations and Recruitment, Stephen Donze, shares the importance of recruiting in military healthcare: “SHR Recruiters don’t just fill positions, they take the time to truly get to know each clinician, supporting them every step of the way through the onboarding process. In doing so, they strengthen the workforce that supports the mission of our Federal customers.”

That commitment goes far beyond filling roles. It’s about building relationships, understanding each clinician’s goals and strengths, and ensuring they feel supported long before they enter their first day of service.

In doing so, our recruiters strengthen the workforce that supports military readiness—connecting Federal healthcare teams with professionals deeply committed to delivering exceptional care to active-duty service members, veterans, and their families.

This work often happens behind the scenes, but its impact is felt everywhere: in stronger teams, continuity of care, and a workforce built with purpose, precision, and compassion.

🔹To our SHR recruiters: thank you for the care, dedication, and commitment you bring to every interaction. Your work supports mission-readiness and strengthens the delivery of quality care to those who serve our nation.

We’re proud to shine the spotlight on Alora Aaland, a Provider Relations Consultant who serves as a trusted point of contact for providers supporting military treatment facilities. 🌟

At SHR, connection is at the heart of everything we do. For Alora Aaland, that connection shows up in every interaction. She ensures providers feel supported, informed, and valued through consistent, responsive communication that builds trust and reinforces confidence.

🔹“It’s important that they feel cared for and know that someone is here for them,” she shares. “That can really make or break someone’s experience.”

Alora’s impact is reflected in the strong relationships she builds and the positive feedback she receives from both providers and colleagues. She approaches each interaction with empathy and intention, taking the time to understand not just the role, but the individual behind it.

🔹“The relationships I can foster with these providers is really rewarding,” she says. “They’re not just medical professionals—they’re individuals with families, challenges, and lives outside of work.”

Over the past three years, Alora credits her growth to the supportive leadership that invests in her development and models a culture of respect and collaboration. Through their guidance, she has strengthened her ability to build meaningful partnerships with empathy and purpose.
