Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Center

Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Center Our approach integrates conventional medicine, functional medicine, and metabolic therapies to create a holistic, personalized treatment plan for you.

Jennifer Bull, MSN, NP-C

Jennifer Bull is the Lead Functional Medicine Nurse Practitioner at Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Center, where she blends her expertise with a deep passion for integrative oncology. Her journey began in hospital settings, including her pivotal role on the surgical oncology team at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Transitioning to the corporate world, Jennifer’s dedication to cancer

care was profoundly shaped by personal experience—her father’s battle with the disease. Witnessing his journey and its impact on their family fueled her commitment to creating a better path for cancer patients. Alongside her husband David, Jennifer co-founded the Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Institute, realizing their shared vision to redefine cancer care through a holistic, metabolic approach. Originally from upstate New York near Albany, Jennifer has called Maryland home since the 1990s. She treasures her family, her love for Great Danes, and her frequent visits to Walt Disney World—a place where she finds joy and inspiration.

A healing journey can involve many layers of care.

Alongside conventional medical treatment, supportive care may include attention to nutrition, hydration, sleep, appropriate movement, stress management and other restorative routines that support overall health and quality of life.

Our team works with each patient individually to understand where additional support may be appropriate and how those pieces can fit into their broader care plan.

Two years ago today, we opened the doors to Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Center with a vision to create a place where people facing cancer could receive care that looks beyond the diagnosis and asks a bigger question:
What is happening within the body’s terrain, and how can we support it?

Over the past two years, we have had the privilege of walking alongside incredible patients and families through difficult diagnoses, treatment decisions, victories, setbacks, good scans, improving labs and very hard days.

Root Cause was created to look at the whole person, not just the tumor. That means considering metabolism, inflammation, immune function, nutrition, gut health, hormones, lifestyle and the many interconnected systems that influence overall health, while incorporating evidence-informed metabolic, functional and integrative strategies alongside conventional oncology whenever appropriate.

Today, we are deeply grateful for every patient who has trusted us, every family who has allowed us to be part of their journey, every practitioner who collaborates with us, and every member of our team who brings so much heart to this work.

You are the reason we are here.

Two years in, and we are still learning, growing and expanding the way we think about personalized cancer care.

Thank you for believing in what we are building and for allowing us to walk beside you.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Root Cause.
Here’s to many more years of thoughtful, personalized care.

At Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Center, we believe there is value in looking at the whole person.

That means considering medical history, current treatment, nutrition, metabolic health, sleep, stress, symptoms and the many factors that can influence overall well-being.

For our founder Jennifer Bull, personalized care means taking the time to listen, ask deeper questions and help each patient understand the supportive options that may be appropriate for them.

Every patient’s needs are different, which is why integrative care should never look exactly the same from one person to the next.

Depending on a patient’s medical history, current treatment and clinical needs, the Root Cause team may discuss supportive services such as IV therapies, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, ozone-based therapies, nutritional support and other individualized approaches.

Each service is considered within the context of the patient’s overall care rather than as a standalone answer.

If you have been wondering what additional supportive options may be available to you, September is a good time to start the conversation.

Healing can look different for every patient.

Sometimes it means changing the way you eat or rest. Sometimes it means asking new questions, exploring supportive therapies, or simply giving your body more of what it needs to function well.

At Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Center, we believe healing deserves a personalized approach that considers the whole person and evolves as their needs change.

IV therapy can be one part of a broader integrative care plan, depending on a patient’s individual needs, medical history and current treatment.

At Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Center, therapies such as high-dose Vitamin C, may be considered as part of a personalized approach to supportive care.

The goal is to look at the whole person, evaluate what is appropriate, and build care around the individual rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Schedule a consultation with our team to learn which options may be appropriate for you. Text us at 443-300-9581.

A diagnosis can bring an overwhelming amount of information, decisions and uncertainty.

Jennifer Bull founded Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Center with the belief that patients deserve time to ask questions, understand their options and receive care that considers more than a diagnosis alone.

This means looking at the whole person and thoughtfully evaluating supportive and integrative approaches within the context of their overall treatment plan.

Our staff feels there should always be room for better questions, informed choices and compassionate care.

There is no single integrative approach that is appropriate for every patient.

At Root Cause Metabolic Cancer Center, IV therapies may be considered as part of an individualized supportive care plan based on a patient’s health history, laboratory findings, current treatment and clinical needs.

The goal is thoughtful care that considers the whole person while working alongside the patient’s broader medical team.

Your questions matter and your care deserves to be personal.

If you or someone you love is navigating a complex health journey, daily routines can become anchors that support physical and emotional well-being alongside medical care.

Healing rituals don’t have to be elaborate. They simply need to support the person living through the journey.
