If your children lack certainty on adjusting at home, Dr. Brian is always happy to demonstrate on our babydoll (who had a lovely name ((Almanzo)) but was all out rejected by the masses). Every stuffy deserves a dynamic and responsive nervous system!!!!

One of the more "revolutionary" aspects of caring for pregnant women is this idea that women are more than incubators. Often times we hear, "Healthy baby by any means necessary" as if the extreme is the norm. As if every birth is white knuckled, life or death. Sometimes it is. We have walked that walk personally. But most of the time, it isn't.

So, often times we see prescriptive birth prep. You've seen curb walking, miles circuit, drink your water! on and on and on. Let's break some of that down.

Curb walking is asymmetrical movement in the pelvis that allows for the baby to move around and get in a more engaging position. But what if (hear me out), you walked barefoot in the grass, or through a creek well before the positive pregnancy test. What if, by the time you had a belly your feet, knees, pelvis and baby were all too familiar with the sweet micro-movements of gardening barefoot, kneeling down to pick a w**d or grab a strawberry?

Miles Circuit is great! What if your baby grew in a belly that held 7-10 deep stretches a day for 4 minutes a day? What if that is the environment your baby was most familiar with? Because Miles Circuit is also great for engagement, but Yin yoga, or long held stretches, are great for YOU.

Hydration is great for replenishing amniotic fluid, it's great to keep your body moving well to grow a baby, but it's also good for postpartum constipation, postpartum rage, and breastmilk supply.

Remember, at the end of the line, you have to be a mother. And we love a good tip/trick to keep you on track, but ultimately this is a marathon of showing yourself kindness as you do the most extraordinary of ordinary things. This, in my humble opinion, is the greatest ride. We get to walk along side you and watch a great unfolding of a story thousands of years old; we have the coolest jobs ever.

Breastfeeding is a relationship. It requires adaptation, getting to know each other, and honesty. Birth has a huge influence on the early breastfeeding relationship, but so does maternal stress, home support, and perseverance.

Moms of many will say that typically each baby presents their own feeding challenges, but most of the time, the first is the most challenging.

For me, a NICU stay really messed up our breastfeeding relationship (obviously helpful in other ways) and it was a long journey back to breastfeeding. SNS, ni**le shields, exclusively pumping, etc. But once we got on track it was smooth sailing. The second time around has been much easier, but this time we’ve had issues with high palate and a pinching latch.

Being a chiropractor doesn’t give us a free pass. It just means more home visits. :)

Good morning! Highway 25 northbound is presenting an opportunity for adventure today! At this point expect 15-20 minute delays. Consider a scenic route! The good news is I think all roads lead to boiled peanuts.

Ps sign up for the herbalist class. :)
