Tennessee Hands & Voices

Tennessee Hands & Voices TN Hands & Voices is one of over 44 statewide chapters comprised mainly of parents along with professionals.

TN Hands & Voices is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families & their children who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as professionals who serve them, without a bias around communication modes or methodology. We are a parent-driven non-profit organization dedicated to supporting families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing. We are unbiased towards communicati

on modes and methods and believe families can make the best choices for their child if they have access to good information and support. Our diverse membership includes those who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families who communicate manually and/or orally. From American Sign Language to cochlear implants and everything in between, our organization represents people from all different approaches to, and experiences with, deafness or hearing loss. We exist to help our children reach their highest potential.

Signs of Spring will be back in Cades Cove on Saturday, April 18, with programs and activities running from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Signs of Spring event celebrates National American Sign Language Day and is planned in partnership with local deaf organizations, Maryville City Schools, and ASL interpreting programs at the University of Tennessee and Maryville College, Knoxville Center of the Deaf, and the Partnership for Family, Children, and Adults. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the Smokies from park rangers and members of the deaf community

This year’s celebration aligns with National Junior Ranger Day, and we’re excited to partner with Smokies Life to host a special Junior Ranger station at Cable Mill. Visitors can explore hands‑on activities inspired by this year’s theme and work toward earning their Junior Ranger badges

Today is International Cochlear Implant Day!

We recognize cochlear implants as one of many tools that can support access to sound and language for some deaf and hard of hearing children and adults. At Hands & Voices, we know there’s no one “right” choice—only what works best for each child and family. Today, we’re celebrating informed choice, respect for different paths, and all the ways our community connects and communicates.

Visit https://handsandvoices.org/virtual-waiting-room/parent-resources.html for audiological resources and learn more about cochlear implants.
