💙 Welcome to Community of Hope 💙

Healthy moms. Strong babies. Brighter tomorrows. 👩🏾‍🍼✨

At MVOC Community of Hope, we believe every mother deserves to feel seen, supported, educated, and empowered—and every baby deserves the opportunity for a healthy start.

Our work is about more than hosting events. It’s about showing up for families. 💙

Through Community of Hope, we work alongside churches, community partners, healthcare professionals, and families throughout the Miami Valley to provide:

🤰🏾 Prenatal education & maternal health resources
😴 Safe sleep education & workshops
🧷 Diapers & baby-care essentials
🩺 Health fairs & community baby showers
🤝🏾 Connections to health and community resources
📣 Advocacy for healthier moms, babies, and communities

We also recognize that Black mothers and babies continue to face disparities that can affect pregnancy, birth, postpartum health, and infant outcomes. We believe those disparities can—and must—change.

That’s why we educate.
That’s why we advocate.
That’s why we organize.
And that’s why we have HOPE. 💙

Whether you’re a mother, father, grandparent, faith leader, healthcare professional, community organization, volunteer, or simply someone who wants to see families thrive—there is a place for you in this work.

✨ Follow us as we share resources, education, upcoming events, community opportunities, maternal and infant health information, and ways that YOU can help make a difference.

Together, we can build stronger families and healthier communities throughout the Miami Valley.

Meco Turner Fells We Love You!

Ms. Meco Fells currently functions as the Community Engagement Program Manager for Maternal and Child Health at Public Health. She has worked with us for many years, having obtained her Community Health Worker certification while working in Maternal and Child Health in 2020 as a Neighborhood Navigator for the Ohio Equity Initiative (OEI). She then transitioned to being a Community Health Advocate II for Moms and Babies First and she recently began her work as the Community Engagement Program Manager.

Despite working full time, Meco’s formal education was obtained in 2023 when she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Leadership from Wilberforce University. She quickly followed that up with obtaining her Master’s degree from Lancaster Bible College in Non-profit Management in May, 2025.

For fun, Ms. Fells is an avid shopper who loves music and reading. She is also the proud mother of three wonderful people, 1 son and two daughters, and is a loving Gigi to her five-year-old grandson
