Low potassium patterns can feel like your body has lost its spark.

avocados are high in potassium

Potassium works inside the cells to support:
Cellular hydration
Heart rhythm
Muscle function
Nerve communication
Blood sugar regulation
Energy production
On HTMA, a low potassium pattern may be seen in women who feel:
Mentally overwhelmed
Easily irritated
Physically weak
Anxious or unable to relax
Tired after meals
Constipated
Bloated or uncomfortable after eating
Potassium also works closely with sodium. It is not enough to look at either mineral alone.
The relationship between sodium and potassium may help us understand how the body is managing stress, inflammation, blood sugar, and cellular energy.
This is why we focus on mineral patterns—not just one isolated number.

Mineral Spotlight: Potassium 💚

One of the most common patterns we see on Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is low potassium.

Our newest results from a 65-year-old woman who had been struggling with fatigue, bloating, constipation, eczema, and an afternoon energy crash that often left her needing a two-hour nap.

Her hair potassium level was just 1.3 mg%, well below the optimal range.

Does this mean she simply needed to eat more bananas?

Not necessarily.

On an HTMA, potassium isn't just about how much potassium you're eating. It gives us insight into how your body is utilizing potassium at the cellular level and can reflect patterns related to stress, energy production, metabolic function, and adrenal resilience.

Women with low potassium patterns may experience:

✔️ Fatigue and poor stamina
✔️ Afternoon energy crashes
✔️ Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
✔️ Muscle weakness or cramping
✔️ Sluggish digestion or constipation
✔️ Feeling overwhelmed by stress

One question we hear all the time is:

But my potassium was normal on my blood work.

That's actually very common.

Blood potassium is tightly regulated because your heart and muscles depend on it. Even if your body's potassium reserves are being depleted or your cells aren't utilizing potassium efficiently, your blood level can still remain within the normal range.

HTMA measures something different.

It provides a longer-term picture of mineral patterns and how your body is adapting to stress over time. It doesn't replace blood work—it complements it by offering another piece of the puzzle.

This is exactly why we believe in testing instead of guessing. Two women can feel equally exhausted, but the underlying patterns contributing to their symptoms may be completely different.

Have you ever been told your blood work was "normal," but you still knew something wasn't right? We'd love to hear your story below. 💚
