Your Labor Day weekend plans just got a whole lot more jazzy. 🎷✨ The 47th annual Detroit Jazz Festival is happening now through September 7, bringing four days of completely free live music to downtown Detroit.

This year, all three main outdoor stages have been consolidated at Hart Plaza, creating a more walkable festival experience, while late-night indoor performances are happening at the Gretchen C. Valade Jazz Center at Wayne State University.

The 2026 lineup includes Joe Lovano, Ravi Coltrane, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ron Carter, Bob James, Catherine Russell and dozens more, with the festival also celebrating the centennials of Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Dr. Randy Weston.

The tornado touched down near Mt. Elliott and Vernor and continued across Belle Isle, the mayor said. It's the first tornado in the city in nearly two decades.
