June is Men’s Mental Health Month.

Mental health affects everyone, yet many men are taught to stay silent, push through, or carry their struggles alone. The reality is that strength isn’t found in suffering in silence. Strength is found in reaching out, asking for help, and taking steps toward healing.

This month, we’re highlighting the voices of men across Oakland Community Health Network as they share what men’s mental health means to them. Their perspectives remind us that mental health matters at every age and every stage of life.

Whether you’re navigating stress, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, or simply feeling overwhelmed, know that support is available and you don’t have to face it alone.

Let’s continue breaking the stigma, encouraging honest conversations, and creating communities where men feel supported, heard, and valued.

What does men’s mental health mean to you?

Today is World No To***co Day — a reminder that every step toward quitting to***co is a step toward better health.

To***co use remains one of the leading causes of preventable disease and death, increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke, lung disease, cancer, anxiety, and other chronic health conditions. Quitting can improve both physical and mental well-being at any stage.

Tips to support a to***co-free lifestyle:
• Replace smoking triggers with healthier habits like walking or deep breathing
• Stay hydrated and keep healthy snacks nearby
• Reach out to supportive friends, family, or professionals
• Avoid situations that increase cravings when possible
• Celebrate small victories throughout your journey

Quitting is not always easy, but support is available — and every attempt is progress.

If you or someone you know is looking for support, resources are available to help build healthier habits and improve overall wellness.

As we wrap up National Prevention Week, we want to remind our community that prevention starts with connection, healthy coping skills, education, and supportive conversations.

Sometimes prevention looks like the small everyday choices that help us care for our mental health, reduce stress, build relationships, and create healthier communities. Whether it’s spending time outdoors, connecting with loved ones, practicing self care, volunteering, or finding positive outlets, every healthy choice matters.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support prevention, recovery, mental wellness, and substance use awareness in our communities. Together, we can continue building hope, resilience, and stronger futures.

Today is International Day of Families 💙

At Oakland Community Health Network, we recognize that every family looks different. Family can be the people you are born into, the friends who become family, coworkers who support you, neighbors, caregivers, mentors, or the people who simply show up when you need them most.

Connection and support matter, and meaningful relationships can make a powerful impact on our mental health and wellbeing.

Today is a reminder to reach out to the people who make up your family and let them know they matter to you. A simple text, call, or conversation can make all the difference.
